Hi everyone. Well, I called Garber's office this morning top schedule my re-scope. That will be on Sept. 15th. They will be calling me with my new surgery dat at some point today and it looks as though it will be the next week....YAY! I will need to speak with my principal at work to give her the "heads up" as this will be happening at only 2.5 weeks into the school year. I want to assure her that my students will be prepared and will have work to do while I am out. I am beginning my tenure year and I don't want to mess anything up, but this is so important to me! And, I am figuring 1.5 weeks off should be enough. I worked with 2 broken arms last year so I think I can do this! YAY! Feeling so much better!

Only reason, with my open RNY, that I did not go to back in one week was because my daughter was visiting from Texas. I think its possible! (sometimes the doctors got different ideas, but hey, right?]

Hi Erin, Make sure you check with Dr. Graber's office first. I know some of his patients and regularly uses a drain, which stays in place for about 3 weeks, even with his lap patients. Also, I will tell you that to take off only a week, even with lap may not be enough. I had lap, did very well with not much pain, but the tiredness will get you. My advice, take at least 2-3 weeks off. You will definitely need this time to rocoup, regain your energy and relearn your new way of life. You are welcome to attend our Camden support group if you live in this area. We will be meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 10th at 7:00 at the Oneida Savings Bank Community Room. A couple of Dr. Graber's patients attend our support group as well as people from the Upstate Bariatric Center. Email me if you need more info. Good luck and God bless, Debra

Hi Debra. I am seeing Dr. Garber, not Dr. Graber. My doc assured me that I won't have any drains or anything after surgery. I am going to keep a positive attitude and plan to go back to work in 1.5 weeks. If it is too difficult, I will take each day as it comes. Thanks for your supportive words.

OOPS, sorry. I always seem to get those two mixed up. Good luck on your surgery, and I hope you feel well enough to return to work. I hope you have an uneventful surgery and a great recovery. I'll be thinking of you. Take care and God bless. Debra
