LI Bariatric Center or Cori center
When i called the surgeon Dr. DeCespel with St. Vincents hospital{he was referred to me by a friend who had surgery 2 years ago} THe office gave me and appointment then said that they would send me to the Long Island Bariatric Center where i would meet with a NP first then the dietician and what ever other docs i needed to see. She said that it was a one time fee of $1500 that this place does not take insurance. She said that they would take care of everything i needed. I also called the Cori center, they took some info from me and they are supposed to get back to me with what the insurance told them. Im so confused ...
I would just ask them for a list of tests that they require and then handle it yourself. That's alot of money for tests that most insurance companies will cover whether you're having WLS or not.
Oh I forgot, that $450 was for the psych evaluation and the nutritionist.
I think the standard tests are:
psych eval.
nutritionist
sonogram of gallbladder
bloodwork
endoscopy
Upper GI series
pulmonary test
sleep study
EKG
stress test
Like I said Oxford covered everything except the psych and nutritionist.

Cori Center !!!!!!!!!! the only ex[ense I had out of pocket was 125.00 for the pshycologist...........tell them you don't want to have to pay anything out of pocket....believe me they will work with you.......I had open gastric and was back at work in 12 days............surgery was beautiful...no complications...the nutrionist is always available !!!!!!!!!!! good luck to you.........Maria
I had surgery thru the Cori Centers as well. I paid $175 for my psych eval. and $75 for Nutritionist. That was my copay from my insurance. I'm sure they will work with you. I had Lap RNY with Dr. Shuhknecht! He was great! They handled all the insurance paperwork and I didn't have to do anything except show up. I was back at work after 1.5 weeks (don't tell them that! They want at least 2 weeks!).
The only major thing, as with all drs ofcs, make sure you stay on top of them! Call to make sure your insurance paperwork is submitted, ask any questions beforehand, etc.
Either way you go, good luck and congrats on this decision!
