You DON'T have to go broke supplementing

Industry has found ways to use our condition to make money. So much of the stuff you see advertised is so unnecessarily expensive - it just drives me crazy, and I am the first to tell people you do NOT HAVE TO SPEND THAT MONEY. Check your local GNC, grocery store or other vitamin store. They have much of othe same stuff at a considerably cheaper price. Heck, I found Detour and Balance Gold protein bars for 25 cents apiece at BIG LOTS!!! Ladies and gentlemen, SHOP. As an example, my doctor's office had an orange flavored chewable vitamin you had to take 4X a day and it was $39.95 for a month's supply. At GNC, I found their lime flavored chewable, twice a day, for $13, and theirs had MORE NUTRIENTS than the $40 one. Yall have a terrific day!

Thanks for the great info. Heres some more... I asked my doctor about buying all of the extra supplements and he told me that most of the ones pushed by websites and some bariatric places were unnecessary. Other than a multi-vitamin, an Rx for iron and magnesium, and x-tra calcium, nothing else is really needed -- UNLESS your blood levels show you are deficient. I asked about getting a shake from GNC that had 56 grams of protein in it -- he told me that it wasn't necessary, that I would take in all the protein I needed from the foods I was eating. But if it helped my head, then to go ahead and buy it (just take the calories into account) because it wouldn't hurt me. So, be wary about going out and buying every single thing that is deemed medically necessary to have after surgery. If in doubt -- ask your nutritionist or your PCP as they aren't benefitting financially from all those supplements out there. Lisa Z.

Angel, My surgeon sells some that only need to be taken once a day and the month supply cost $5.00, you can not go wrong so I purchased a bottle. I am still using my Centrum which are working great and like the idea that they are chewables so I might just try the surgeon's bottle and then go back to my Centrum. Other then that I do not purchase anything except the protein powder and now only in samples because I have 4 jars that I purchased and can not stand.
