URGENT: Pre-op Bowel Prep ?

Any input on this will be greatly appreciated... My surgeon didn't order me on a liquid diet pre-op because when we met earlier this week, I had lost 8 lbs since our first meeting. He actually didn't ask me to do anything special, except NOT to eat or drink anything after midnight on Sunday. BUT...I keep wondering...should I do maybe a FLEET prep on Sunday? I just want to make sure I am pretty clean when I go in Monday. Sometimes I feel I should do one of those, kind of to cleanse myself...it may be a good time to do it now... Any suggestions? Thank you, Dolly 2+ days to go (have to report to Hosp at 6 am Monday)

Hi Dolly, Just follow your doctor's advice. It's not necessary to do a fleet the night before. I made sure I didn't eat heavy foods the day before my surgery. I just didn't want to go into surgery with a lot of stuff to have empty out of my bowels. But, my doctor just said don't eat or drink after midnight. Post op just make sure they give you a suppository. They gave me one early on the morning of the day I was discharged. Worked well. Good luck on Monday and God bless. Debra

I was not told to do the bowel prep, either. I was given a low fat diet for 4 days before, and then clear liquids the day before, then nothing from midnight on. Good luck to you Dolly....I will pray for you. sH

I had to have a fleets enema and MOM the 2 nights before surgery and nothing but clear liquids the day before. I am sure your surgeon knows what he is doing so just follow his instruction and good luck
