Hi, I had surgery on Friday, July 22. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. I just want to know -- is it normal to have several soft BM's a day? And I am SO thirsty -- but I have to sip, right? Thanks - Debbie M

Debbie, Hi...it's very normal to be thirsty....I sipped all day long...and yes I personally had to sip...if I gulp it hurts in my chest. Get in your 64oz of fluid a day.....about the bm...I think everyone is different..personally I had the opposite problem....ask your surgeon if your worried, but it's probably fine. Janean

OH gosh those first days home everytime i had to pass some gas i had to go to potty for the reason i would go little BM with it. THE good thing is i bet your gas from the surgery is breaking up and that means good health. EVERY day gets better! SOUNDS like your doing well!!!! SIP SIP SIP!!!! LISA

Debbie, Yes the bm was like that for me as well and now I deal with the other side of it. I take 1 chewable benifiber a day and it seems to be helping. As for the thirst, YES and I still get that way even though I am drinking all my water (64oz per day). At the beginning I was sucking on ice chips and that seem to help so much and it seems to help with getting in the water, also the s/f ice pops were awasome! Best of luck hun, if your not sure always remember you can call your surgeon because that is what you are paying him/her for. ~hugs~ Take care Debra P 285/240.5/125??

Congratulations Debbie on your successful surgery! I had the opposite problem in the BM area, so I'm not too sure about that. But keep sipping your water because you need to get your 64 oz. in. As for the BM, you should ask your surgeon about that, just to give him/her a heads-up about how you're doing. Be well and welcome to the "losing side". Karen
