Intubation and Claustrophobia Question?
Hope you all had a very nice weekend!!
It's me again, yet with another question directed to the post-ops this time.
As my day approaches, I'm starting to freak out...see, I'm claustrophobic and I've heard and read around here that they intubate while the patient is awake??? Is that true? If so, do all patients have to go through this?
I am panicking at the thought of it
Please share your experience on this
Thank you!
Dolly
dolly, dont feel bad i to was worried about stuff and the only way to find stuff out is to ask
ok lets see i had my surgery on 6/20 and i feel great when i went into the or they put something in my iv in the holding room and when i went in they had me move to a smaller table {lol} and put out my arms and by the time he said now youre going to fall asleep i was gone so if you are afraid of being worked on before youre out just tell the anast {sp}
then just tell him or her this and you will do fine its normal to be scarred

Dolly,
Hun only patients that have a problem with something to do with the throat, I would think your surgeon would have told you that by now. Otherwise they do that when you are asleep. I am claustrophobic as well hun and it was ok, though I did ask for something in holding as well and I do not remember even leaving holding. Just tell them you would like something to calm your nerves and you will be fine. ~hugs~
Hun I was the same way you are at this time before my surgery, it is normal and you will see you are going to be fine. You post when you need to hun do not worry about it, we are all here for support and to support each other. ~hugs~
