Hi, I'm home
Hi everyone
I made it through surgery and have finally made it home too. Right now if you ask me if I made the best decision for me, I'd tell you that you were nuts... my surgery was a nightmare cuz of extensive adhesions, which in turn left my surgeon no choice but to increase the size of my incision from 4" to almost 9" -- it runs from right between my breasts (at the base of my chest bone) to the top of my belly button! Also there is the added complication of a chronic back problem (ie pain) that has left me unable to find a comfortable position. BUT, the doctor swears I'll feel differently in a couple of weeks (seems so far away right now) .. and many of you have voiced the same opinion... so I'll just have to wait and see.
Thank you for all of the prayers and well wishes -- I appreciated each and every one of them.
Donna.. Angel Girl.. I'm sorry I missed your subsequent phone call, but I was trying to reach the phone when the operator stopped the call.. it just isn't easy for me to move. I wish we lived closer so we could yack on the phone or something, my family is beginning to hate me -- they can't understand that the pain makes me snap and that I'm NOT mad at them or pissed off.. but rather in a world of hurt that I can't make go away.. maybe later on in the week we will be able to chat
Well, I've gotta get going, I can't sit here any longer. Once again, thank you all for your help and support! I look forward to being able to share some positive things with you... and I hope that that time is soon!
Love and hugs to all,
Lisa Z
Had surgery... wondering... what was I thinking?????
Lisa,
oh do I feel for you....I totally understand exactly what you are saying.....for about 3 weeks I was in alot of pain...and the worst pain was actually in my back...towards my side.....I used a heating pad on that spot and it did help, also gas x, and take your pain meds before the pain starts...I took mine every 6 hours on the dot.
Believe me I know you dont really want to hear this again, but it does get better. At the 3 week mark, I felt about 75% better and then, each week got better and better.....
Hang in there...you will get through this.

Lisa,
I'm SO happy you are home and at least finding a way to get comfortable without the hospital bed. I am so sorry that you are feeling badly. I remember you telling me it felt like you had been hit by a truck. I was kind of nervous when I called the second time and there was no answer, then Amber posted and I was able to breathe a sigh of relief!!!
I know that you feel badly right now, and hoped you hadn't done it, but I have seen that kind of posting a lot and I know in a couple of weeks you will be feeling so much better!!
I will wait until you are up to it to talk more on the phone. Stay comfortable as much as you can, and think ahead to when the pain will lessen and you will go back to feeling that this was totally the right decision for you!!!

Lisa: Understand completly where you are coming from, I think it took me til about week 4 before I began to have a glimmer of hope and felt like I hadn't screwed up the rest of my life. Take one day at a time, know that tomorrow will be better, and 3 months down the road will be even better. Look at this as a long term investment in the rest of your life. Wishing you peaceful sleep, restful waking hours and a healthy rest of your life. Jane

Liza,
Hun glad you are back to posting... ~hugs~ Congrats on your surgery, I am sorry that you are not feeling very well and as you said it will get better every day! I went through, as most of us have here, the same feelings as you and I also had really bad head hunger after a few days and the pain when down. Hubby had to still eat and of course he was getting fast food, WOW what a killer it was at that time, I went through some depression I have to admit. As time went by and I added foods it felt so much better and I know that my life was going to be normal again. As you start to see the weight come off it helps as well.
Hang in there hun and know that life will get better and you will be so much more healthier and happier... ~hugs~
Take care

Congratulations!!! You made it to the losing side.
I can't advise you on how you will be feeling because I am still pre-op, but from what everyone says you will feel better each day. So, hang in there and before you know it, you will be beyond this painful stage.
Good Luck to you! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
