Hello to all those at AMOS. I hope everyone is doing well and everything is going well. I am very happy to say I'm 9 months post-op and down to my last 15 pounds. I can't wait to reach my goal weight. So far things have been going well with me. Am trying to get use to the head hunger. Anyone who said WLS was the easy way out (like People magazine) has NO idea what they are talking about. It's a real emotional journey. I have really learned the hard way that I have to take control of my future. I learned how to eat healthy all over again and I thank God for the opportunity and the tool that he has given me. Now I have a question. The question is do we have to take chewable vitamins forever or can we take any multi vitamin as long as it has the nutrients required. I found some really good vitamins (GNC Mega) but they are not chewables, so I wanted to know if it matters. I see alot of sites that sell WLS vitamins and some are chewables but alot of them are regular vitamins (tablets are swallowed whole). Any help would be great! & Armena post-op 9/8/04-251-165

Hey Armena Good to hear from you. Oh my goodness, you look fabulous. What a beautiful picture. You go girl!!! Congratulations on your weightloss. Those last 15 lbs will come off sooner than you think. As for the vitamins, you should be able to take the regular vitamins. I take the advanced formula centrium. I have no problem swallowing them and my WLS surgeon is ok with it. I only had to take the chewables for the first 3 months after surgery. I hope I was able to help some. Peace and God's blessings to you always. and hugs Glenda 237/161/?

Armena, Hello hun. ~hugs~ Congrats on your weight loss and so close to your goal... Make sure you post and let us know when you reach it. I am only 6 weeks out and take Centrium Chewables but my surgeon said it was ok for me to start on vitamins that I can swallow. I will try them later, right now the chewables are working great for me and they are easy to chew. If your not 100% sure then maybe ask your surgeon to make sure it is ok. I hope you see that goal very soon hun, I will keep you in my thoughts. ~Hugs~ Debra P

Congrats Armena!! I agree ... this is HARD! I think it's worth it, but surgery is certainly NOT easy and the post op journey ... well that's when all the really hard stuff kicks in!! Good luck to you on your journey ... it sounds like you 'get it'!! As for your vitamins, it's always best to call the dr. and ask but I'm sure as long as your pouch can tolerate it, you can move on to regular vitamins. In the future, you may want to check out some vitamins made for the bariatric patient. I have a very sensitive pouch, so I have to be careful what vitamins I take. And we do need to remember that we have the malabsorbtion factor. Hugs*Kisses Mary

First off I have to say you look amazing! I checked out your profile and you are simply beautiful. 2nd: I've been taking regular vitamins for months now. I have no problems. I take my calcium that way also. Good luck with the last few lbs. God Bless, ~Angel 255/222/138/118
