Hi all. I'm hanging in but I'm so dizzy! I plan to call the dr. tomorrow. I took a small step ahead and had some farina for breakfast and am having protein shake now. I suspect it's not having enough in my system - I'm up and around, showering, doing small things around the house. I think I'm not getting enough nutrition to sustain myself. Nothing out of hand, I promise. I just feel so weak! Did anyone experience this in the first week after surgery? I find it's worse today than yesterday... Thanks Suzanne

Hi Suzanne Yup, sure did the first week out. I had my surgery on 6/28 so I'm almost 3 weeks out. Are you getting enough liquids? One morning about a week out I woke up and was do dizzy. I realized that the day before I had not gotten in enough fluids. Now I'm really trying to make sure I pound the fluids as much as I can between my meals (waiting an hour after I eat, and stopping 45-60 before I eat). It's hard! If it doesn't get better by increasing your liquids, or if it just doesn't get better, call your doc. You may be getting dehydrated. Good luck, Debra

Hi, Suzanne, Getting over the effects of anesthesia takes quite a few days-so you're probably sensing a mix of that-plus-if you're using any type of pain medicine-that will also to contribute to your dizziness. Don't feel guilty in just resting for these first few weeks. I'm 3 and a half weeks out and still get pretty weary by the end of the day-and have typically taken mid-morning and sometimes also an afternoon nap! Don't over-do eating right away because you don't want to push your luck with your pouch-causing a leak, etc. But-do make sure you drink enough fluids and get some daily walking in. Best wishes to you! BS

Suzanne, I am so glad to see you posting...~Hugs~ There was a couple of us that wanted to know how things went? I am sorry you are dizzy but hang in there and it does take some time for your system to get back into the swing of things, take your time and get your rest. Your body has just gone through a major operation. Hun call your Dr also, it never hurts to must make sure. Write back when you can and take care..~hugs~ Debra P
