When it comes to plastic surgery..what is really considered medically needed? I have horrible rashes, infections, boils, and back pain from all the excess skin I have, but I don't have a hernia or anything. Would the problems I have be considered medically needed? Thanks in advance for your help.

Document everything, doctor's visits, prescriptions and take lots of pictures. That's the only way to prove that a panni would be medically necessary. A hernia does not mean that the panni would be covered. I had 3 hernias repaired on 2/7/05 along with a tummy tuck. I had no rashes etc. I had to pay for the tummy tuck out of pocket. Joanne

All of those conditions create medical necessity. As gross as this sounds, take photographs when you have the rashes and boils and have your PCP document every back ache, infection, etc. My insurance paid 100% of my abdominoplasty.
