Dr.Omally's patience/just a general question

I just got my packet and my group session is in October and my appiontments with the shrink and nutritionist will be complete in January (unless I need more than one visit) I'll try to keep my mouth shut at the shrinks office so he doesn't know that I'm an obsest nut job!!!!! LOL but anywho I was wondering about how long do you think it will take to get things rolling from that point???? If you had Dr.Omally ,how long did it take 4 you? Thanks for any input Darlene

Darlene, Hun I did not have your Dr but wanted to wish you the very best on this new journey.....~hugs~ It took me 9 months from the time I started until surgery but I also had to do a 6 month weight loss program so I guess I am a bad case for time... Hi Darlene. Dr. O'Malley has one of the busiest practices, so I have heard it takes months to get through the process with him. I ended up going with Dr. Boss (in the same office - he was a protege of Dr. O'Malley), which really speeded things up. I had the group in March, psych and nutrition in April, surgeon consult in May and the surgery 6/3. I only called Dr. Boss's office in March, so you can see it went very quickly. Everyone is different, though...I didn't need additional nutrition appts so that helped. Anyway, do what's right for you and don't worry too much about the time...the whole process is important for a good outcome. Good luck! Alison 6/3/05 255/223/150?

Darlene Howdy !! and, I had Dr OMalley, I can tell you the process with Dr O is a long one. I would say the wait is about a year total. After you recieve the information packet and have allll your appointments he makes the date of surgery. I was finished with ALL my appointments in the month of Feb 2004 and had my date July 23 2004.....It was a total of 1 1/2 yrs from start to the date of surgery. Hes a long wait, but worth it , at least to me. I can give you a bit of info though, dont think you can keep your mouth shut in ur appointment with the shrink. He doesnt let you and to be honest, that was the hardest part of the prep for this journey your about to take on. Hes a very smart wise man....and there is NO WAY of getting around that. Soo Good Luck to you Again, its a long wait, but worth it. He does have other Dr's in his practice all of which are great ones....and I hear the wait is not as long ;) Good Luck Brenny

HEllo Darlene I called Dr O's back in March, due to his LONG waiting list they referred me to Dr Johnson in the same office. I am now waiting on insurance approval. I do know when I went to my shrink appointment there was someone there that was DR o's, she had been waiting since last oct. I know he is WONDERFUL, so is DR Johnson. I just had my group session with the doc on June 30, my nutritionist appt is july 21 and my psych was not until Jan. And since the psych appt is so far away he gave me the number to a psych in Amherst, NY and they are taking patients immediatly. So I will have mine done next week. if you would like the # let me know. good luck.. Dr. O'Malley is awesome. Ask if you can be put on the cancellation list for the nutritionist. I know when I went for my one on one consultation yesterday, several people didn't show up.

Hi Darlene, I had Dr O'Malley as my surgeon. My group session was January 27, 2005. I had my nutritionist and psyche evaluations that same week. Was forced to go for a second nutritionist appointment in early March. I had my surgery April 15, 2005. Two and a half months from educational meeting to the operating table. I'm 12 weeks post op now and have lost 55 pounds. Lynda
