Hi, I had my surgery on 6/24 and so far I have lost 15 pounds and stayed there. I follow my diet sheets to the letter, I usually dont even eat all that I am allowed to, but I havent seen the scales budge in a week. Did I go through all of this to lose 15 pounds? I lost 26 on my own before the surgery, I thought that this was the time when I was supposed to be losing it very rapidly, WHAT am I doing wrong here?? Getting VERY discouraged.....PLEASE help.......Thank you!!

Terri, Hun I had my surgery on 6/6 and I was a slow down the beginning of this week but increased my protein and water and it seems to be moving once again. I know how scary it is when you are not dropping the pounds after going through all of this stuff but hang in there hun....~Hugs~ Make sure your drinking enough and getting your protein, also walking helps move it too..... Take care Debra P

ITS very normal for the body to have to catch up to all the weight its loosing and u get a pause in loss. HAPPENED to me this week 5 or more days no looseing then i dropped 2 yesterday and today down 1. OUR bodies need to adjust. PUT away the scale and don****ch every day if it upsets u this way. ( just a suggestion). U did mention looseing 7 inches off your waist. DO u measure all over? measure the upper arms, thighs and other areas cause i am sure during the looseing small pauses you will see inches melting off you. I can tell by my clothes.......pulling out the the things that didnt fit that now do. HANG in their and u got to get that protein in!!!!!! (((HUG)))! and be strong maybe weigh in once a week, i know its hard i cant do it, but im not getting upset when the scale dont drop. I just keep adding my pre op and post op lbs together and im happy with the grand total! GOOD LUCK! LISA

Hi Terri Congrats on the WLS, and welcome to the losers club. Don't worry about the scale not moving. That has happen to me alot of time. Plus I feel I'm losing slowly anyway. Just be happy in knowing that it's going to all come off one way or another. You're not doing anything wrong. It's just your body fighting you on losing weight. Hang in there you'll be skinny soon. Same thing happened to me. I was thinking that this wasn't going to work for me and that I'd be the only one. However, for whatever reason, your body hangs on to the weight during certain periods and then all of a sudden, it starts dropping it again. You will go through this time and time again. You'll be losing so nicely and then stop, nothing....then all of a sudden, boom! You start losing again. I was thinking how the heck could I not lose any weight with as little as I'm eating?!! But it happens. Just hang in there and it will come off. Good thing is that you shouldn't gain too much. I fluctuate a lb or 2 sometimes during this holding pattern but then things get moving again. Its hard not to panic, I know I did at first, but then I figured out how my body was working and felt comfortable knowing that it will start coming off again soon. I have heard stories of people who have gone 2 or 3 weeks without dropping anything. I think that is when you really need to get those long walks in and try to walk as fast as you can without hurting yourself. Work up a sweat! Good luck sweetie and don't lose hope. It will come off.

Dawn, I guess I just got scared cuz this is supposed to be the time of the most rapid weight loss, and mine seems to be dragging cery slowly, havent lost anything else since the first and Ive been doing exactly what I should be except that sometimes I dont eat all that I should cuz Im not hungry. I take our 2 year old out for a walk in his stroller every night so that I get my exercise in. I just hope the scale starts moving sooooon!!! Im impatient!! Good luck with everything!!!!

One of the things that my surgeon and nutritionist have both said that it seems as though the people who lose massive amounts of weight in the first 6 months seem to slow down shortly after that but that the people that start out slowly losing, lose weight longer...up to 18 months or more. Either way continue to do what you're doing and eventually it will come off. Just thought I would share that because everyone looses differently. Good luck! Laurie
