pouch is crazy!
OMG!!!! This is soo much harder than I thought!!!! I dont get it!! Tuna, and chicken make me feel like a brick is sitting on my chest and my mouth gets all salivary(sorry), but I have no problem with steak or pork, well atleast for this week...sorry to vent! I'm just having a tough time eating.

Don't fret about this...when I was newly post op I could NOT eat chicken at all without getting sick the same way you describe but I could eat beef with no problems. It is only until recently that I can eat chicken but it must be ONLY white meat and even at times I still can't handle it. Isn't it funny how things we used to love to eat can cause us such upsets with our pouches? Remember, your pouch is like an infant being introduced to solid foods. It all takes time, and even then what you can eat today with no problems may still make you sick tomorrow! If it does not agree with you now, try again in a few weeks. Good Luck!
Hope this helps!

Hi Janean
I'm sorry that you are having such a difficult time with this. I just read your profile and my heart goes out to you. I am still pre-op so I can't quite imagine how you are feeling, but I do know that getting it off your chest will help. As for getting frustrated with the food not going down, why don't you try to give yourself a break.. eat some soft foods or soup for a couple of days; even baby food or cottage cheese mixed with some diced fruit would work. Sometimes the harder you try to get your body to do something, the stubborner your body gets. So try not fighting it so hard.
I hope that things start going better for you soon, hon. Keep your chin up and know that we are all pulling for you!!
Hugs,

Janean,
Hun hang in there, I know it is crazy at times! You never know what to eat, well at least I worry about everything I put into my mouth but I think we are on the same page with it. ~hugs~ Call me when you get this, if you have the time so we can chat......
Take care

Hi Jenean, I could not eat white meat chicken 3 weeks post op, and for the most part that has continued. I would suggest trying dark meat, you willk feel so much better. As to the tuna, my hubby would put in the "magic bullet" and pulverize it, which he also did with chicken breast to make chicken salad and I was able to tolerate both a lot better that way.
Good luck
Janean,
I have to say I too found it easier to eat dark meat. I hated dark meat pre-op but found it easier to digest when I was early post op. I do eat white meat but have to chew it VERY WELL.
My doctor told me that taking a chewable gas x before eating any type of meat will help. I would get a terrible brick feeling in my chest as well, he said it was gas. It never hurts to try it!
Good luck and let me know if anything helps!
