Hello my AMOS Family, First off let me say to you all that I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend.... I know I hope I do... Spending time with hubby is always a good thing.... Well I have a question, when you start to eat something that just does not agree with your new pouch, how quick will it tell you? What does it feel like? I am starting to try new things and I am not sure after I take the first bite I just go slow and see if I feel my tummy getting upset. I have felt my tummy get upset slightly so far but nothing to crazy though when the egg felt like it was caught it hurt more then getting an upset tummy.......Just was wondering..... Thanks all ~hugs~ Debra P

Hi Debra: I'm sure you know that although we all share some similar experiences, we are all different and that includes our tolerances to food. Early on I always felt a little nausea in the morning-even with that first sip of water. As the days progressed, I started feeling a little bit better. It was almost like my pouch needed to wake up or something (go figure) Now with the food tolerances, with me it's been kind of interesting. I could eat a poached egg, but a scrambled egg's consistency did not agree w/me. In 8 weeks post-op I've only dumped once, and that was because I didn't chew thoroughly and was probably eating too quickly. When something doesn't agree with me or my pouch tells me I've done something wrong (this is kinda gross) but my mouth starts to produce this really slimy saliva and I need to spit--a lot and I feel like I've swallowed a brick. It lasts for about 3-5 minutes but it feels like an eternity. Remember at this point, it's sticking to your surgeons/nutritionists food plan, and taking it really slow. I was told that if you have an intolerance to something that you should wait 1 week and try again after that. I know that for me, my only dumping experience was on scallops (which I love and ate with no problem before) and I haven't had another one since! One day I'll be brave and try again. Take care Debra, and good luck. Karen
