Hey there my New York Family, Just wanted to say hello and to update my family on my progress. I had surgery August 30th 2004 at that time I weighed 226 and wore size 18/20 (highest weight 229) height 5'2". I currently weigh 128 wearing size 2 in clothes and 7 1/2 in shoes. My ring size was 8 it's now a 6 (getting engaged on May 14th confirmed this). I've been approved for a Tummy Tuck with Hernia repair and I'll have this surgery on the 20th of July. I'm also getting breast implants and would have this surgery on September 7th of this year. My favorite past-time was shopping now I simply can't get enough of it!!!! I'm grateful eternally to Dr. Macura and Lazzaro. I'm grateful and thankful that I have a forum that allows me to read posts that are helpful, funny and most of all supportive. I have the pleasure of reading and experiencig weight loss from your perspective and for this I'm eternally grateful. So while I haven't posted in a very long time it doesn't mean that I'm not reading and visiting the board (I come at least five times a day) I'm addicted. I hope that everyone has continued success and take care of yourself and each other. Have a healthy and safe July 4th. Peace and blessings Marcy

Hi Marcy: Congratulations on your weight loss, engagement and a size 2!! You go girl! I'm 6'2" and a size 2 won't be where I'm going, but your weight loss is certainly encouraging to all of us. I'm 2 months post op and I've lost 39lbs so far I still have about 80lbs to go before I reach my "ideal" weight and I pray that I make it. Peace and blessings, my fellow "Brooklynite"! Wishing you all the best and congratulations again. Karen

Hey there Karen, Thanks for the acknowledgement. I was shocked with the size two but the weight just keep dropping and I'm actually still losing. Although not as fast but I continue to lose every month. When I first decided on surgery my "ideal weight" was actually a ten, how naive was that!!! I was actually a size ten for about a month. I'm happy that my journey can provide encouragement to others on this forum. I rarely get on to post but I'm always on reading and usually respond to people via email. Again thanks for the encouragement and all the best to you on your weight loss journey. Peace and blessings, Marcy

Hey Christine, How are you doing??? I read a while back that you had foot surgery (stopping kicking the soccer ball) how are you doing now??? I hope that you are okay. However, looking at your numbers I KNOW that you are fine!!!! WOW, you are making leaps and bounds. August 30th would be a year and I'm still losing. You are absolutely right about the HERNIA!!!! When I saw the Plastic Surgeon I actually found the hernia the week before and didn't know what it was. During my consultation when I pointed out the "bulge" to him he confirmed and stated this is how insurance would cover the tuck. I actually saw him today to sign papers get prescriptions and confirm surgery. It's the 20th and I can't wait!!!! As always you are often with me since I wear your pendant and chain at least twice a week. I've had it blessed. I always get lots of compliments, so my dear sistha your are never forgotten. I promise to post more often. Peace and blessings, Marcy

Hey Marcy, First of all congratulations on the amazing weight loss the size 2 and the engagement that is so exciting. I was reading your profile and I noticed that you submitted a letter to your insurance to see if they would cover the plastic surgery I was just wondering if you have received any feed back from them. I am having a very hard time with my chest the amount of skin is terrible and I want to have mastoplexy and possibly implants as well. I don't even know how to go about addressing this situation. Should I see plastic surgeon first or call the insurance first any advice would be greatly appreciated. And congratulations again on your wonderful results, your doing great keep up the good work. Take care and have a wonderful 4th of July Elizabeth 251/135

Hi Liz, Thanks for reading my profile and most importantly thanks for the words of congratulations!!!!! To answer your question about my letters for plastics Empire denied my claim for a lower body lift and brachioplasty. However, this didn't come as a surprise since my plastic surgeon basically confirmed that it would be almost impossible for them to view my pictures and not deem those procedures as totally cosmetic. Being quite honest with myself I wanted to try but knew that nothing short of a miracle would allow BC/BS to cover those requests. I'm thankful and estatic that they are covering my tummy tuck. Liz, this is the area of my body that I totally dislike. While I wear size 2 the excess skin bulges over my jeans. I wear a panty girdle and I'm conscious of the bulge. It's not noticeable in skirts but since jeans are basically cut low and tops don't usually go past the tummy I'm conscious. To answer your question about how to proceed. I would definitely start researching plastic surgeons. Dr. Thomas Sterry located in New York and is listed on this site under find a plastic surgeon is excellent. Only thing he's definitely out of network. Find your surgeon that you are comfortable with. Have you experienced rashes/intertergio/skin breakdown etc??? If so have you started your documentation (paper trail) making sure to visit your pcp. Plese feel free to email me and I'll be happy to assist you with information. I won't even discuss my breast. Those girls left with my first 20 pounds of weight loss. I'll also invite you to visit the plastic surgery forum. OOPS!!! Thanks for congratulating our engagement!!!! This Sunday we celebrate our fourth anniversary. Email me. Peace and blessings and have a wonderful 4th!!! Marcy
