Secret dreams...
G'morning Everyone!!
I couldn't sleep very well last night so I did some thinking.. and of course my thoughts went towards my upcoming surgery and what that will mean for me in the near future. After a while I started thinking about the "other" reasons why I wanted to have this surgery... you know, not the medical reasons but the secret hopes that I'm sure we all have.
So here is my question for our group: What are your top 5 secret desires, hopes, wants for having WLS? I'll start.
1. I want to see my bones again -- collar bone, hip bones, maybe even a rib or two.
2. I want to be able to "borrow" one of my daughter's shirts and not give it back.
3. I want to shop at Victoria's Secret and actually be able to BUY some sexy lingerie.
4. I want to not dread getting into a bathing suit.
5. I want to be able to cross my legs like a woman again.
Those are my top 5... what are yours?

1. To look like I did when I met my husband, flat tummy and all.
2. To shop at Fashion Bug and get to wear the clothes on the other side of the store.
3. To be able to wear the pretty bras and actually have them fit and not hurt.
4. To wear sexy lingere
5. To be able to tuck my shirts in and not have a spare tire hanging over, or to wear a tummy shirt and get a cute little belly button ring.
I could go on and on and on, I love the other responses as well.
Have a great day,
Shannon
Just remember what Cinderella sang:
"............ if you go on believing, the dreams that you wish will come true"
And they will! I am still too busty, I think, for Vic's, but when I slipped into these Old Navy LOW RISE jeans, I nearly had a heart attack! The gal heard the noise go up from the fitting room and ran to see what was the matter because I was sooooooooooooooo excited.
And I am still considering the belly button ring once the new navel heals.
Have an amazing day!

Great thread...
Here's my top 5 reasons for having WLS:
1- I'd like to be the size I was when I met hubby.
2- My health, I want to be around to raise my child.
3- I want to wear the kind of clothes that I want to, not the kind that cover and make me feel ashamed.
4- To not have supersized boobs anymore. I want to wear a normal bra, not the equivalent of a steel-belted radial
5- Just to feel better about myself.
Hi Lisa
Where can I begin?
1. To actually be able to fit into and ride those roller coasters I used to
ride as a teen.
2. To be able to tuck my freakin shirt in my jeans, and not hanging down
to my knees.
3. To walk hand in hand with my husband on the beach, and know I look
good, and not look like his mother.
4. To be able to live long enough where I can be there at my son's
wedding.
5. Last but definately not least.......Basically, Just to live, and be
comfortable doing it........
By the way, great post!!!

Hello Lisa,
I had my surgery on May 5, 2005 and I also thought of many reasons why I wanted this.
These are my reasons:
1. To be able to run and play with my children not jus****ch them from the porch.
2. To able to walk into ANY store I want to buy clothes and NOT pay $50 for a damned shirt!
3. To be able to enjoy sex w/ my husband the way I used during our first years together.
4. To be able to walk and climb stairs w/o pain or being out of breath. Which I happy to say I'm there already!
5. To be able to join my kids on any amusement park ride I want to go on!
6. To fit into the sits at the movie theater or any other type of theater comfortably!
My list can go on and on but most importantly is my health and self-esteem.
Take care and Happy 4th of July

Dear All,
Great post. I'm still in the process of seeing doctors and going for approval, but hope to be on the losing side soon. This really made me think, because I have been preoccupied with having the surgery and quitting smoking. Here go my 5 things:
1. To be able to see my neck again.
2. To be able to glide when I walk, because I won't have all this extra weight on.
3. To be able to sit on the floor, play with my two kids and get up without a problem and not have to get up like a one year who is just getting their balance. And not be in pain when I get up.
4. Like someone else said, to play with my kids and not have to sit down and watch them play.
5. To look good in clothes and bathing suit, and feel good with my looks. More self-esteem.
6. Just to feel healthy and fit and not have all these comorbities.
7. To wear sexy lingerie and feel sexy wearing it.
8. No more joint, back and plain old body pain.
I guess I could go on and on. Good luck to everyone -- Great post. I'm glad I'm not alone.
Debbie
