Well I thought I might stave off hair loss before it begins so I bought some biotin today. Question is that I dont know how much I should take. LOL Of course, thats always me, putting the cart before the horse. I know that after the surgery I will absorb less but I kind of want to get an idea before hand. Anyone have any idea? Thanks in advance! Laurie

Hi Laurie. I'm 8 mos. post op, and take 5,000 micrograms daily. It hasn't hurt, but I don't think it's helped much, either. I also take a dropperful of liquid B-complex vitamins, which I find help w/ energy.....2 flintstones vitamins/day & my synthroid....and now protonix following this gall bladder removal. Good luck! Biotin is not going to keep the hair loss from occurring, but it will make the remaining hair [and NAILS] stronger and the new hair growing in as well. I was one of those fortunate ones who had lots and lots of hair, but I still lost a great deal of it and now it's coming in quite nicely. Good luck and don't worry! To quote my sister ~ you won't go bald! Have a wonderful day!
