I am SO over this blended diet!!! Can anyone tell me what the "fork tender" diet looks like? Just looking for some hope coming down the pike in 2 weeks! Plus, I have a bunch of summer events coming up so I'm curious what I'll be able to eat. Thanks!! Alison

Hi Alison well it's been a while since I seen you I hope you are doing well.... I never heard of it as a fork tender diet but I think you can eat protien food such as chicken, fish, steak, turkey, but make sure you chew chew chew before you swallow, it is important that you chew til it is mush....this will prevent anything getting stuck......try to keep on a high protien low carb diet in all your stages.....you will also have to learn what your pouch likes and don't like.... I hope this helps you but if it didn't I just wanted to say hi.... Christine 346/231/?

Alison, OMG I know what you mean about this blended diet...I have been trying to eat others things as well but chewing like crazy, not putting the food in the food processor is making it some what better. I have added Soy Chips but only one serving of the carb group a day! Plus they add another 7 gms of protein to my day which is a good thing. Something to crunch has made a difference also. I have not really tried any meats so far just fish but I think I might try some Pork tonight but so scared. well I know I can not offer to much because I am still in the stage 2 also, I do wish you the best. Other then foods how are you doing? feeling good? I have been dealing with the head hunger..... but getting better with it..... Take care Debra P

Alison, mushy chicken soup, very-finely chopped chop-meat, all kinds of beans.....I like chili/with red beans......tuna, I've been using my crock-pot alot, it makes the meat, chicken, pork, very tender. I went to a bbq, and had a chicken burger and chewed very well.....I also, had chicken sausage that was very tender....nothing dry...and anything you need a knife to cut really chew well. Janean

Thanks everybody....knowing that better things are coming soon sure does help! Sounds like it will be pretty wide open, keeping the carbs down of course! I've been sticking really close to the blended diet foods that the doctor's office gave me, but it's gotten to where nothing sounds good so I'm not eating enough! It makes me tired, and I know I have to get better about getting the protein in one way or another. I did ask the doctor's office and got the ok to add some beans. Refried are fine, but BOY, did the Bush's beans backfire (so to speak!!!). So, that won't be happening - at least for now. Otherwise, I'm doing ok (that's for asking!). I go back to work on Friday (4 weeks out since they ended up having to do Open surgery on me). Luckily, that's followed by a 3 day weekend, so I'll be able to rest up again! Then back to the doctor on the 11th to move to the next diet stage! YEAH!!!! Thanks again - and have a great week! Alison
