Hi All: I have 15 days before my surgery...getting a little nervous. I can tell because I'm starting to have weird dreams...I especially had one the night after I had to drink all that barium liquid during the x-rays. Here's a funny thing, I can't believe that I'm going to lose weight. I will follow the instructions to the letter...I've even started an itinerary for the surgery date, you know, call the hospital this date, etc. but it's hard to see myself being thin. Anyway, there's so much to consider, like I want to come out alive adn healthy... I know it varies, but PLEASE share your experiences. I weigh 285....how much did you lose in the first 2 weeks, etc? How much pain were you in?

Adra, Hello hun...~hugs~ Yeah you are close..... I wish you the very best.... I have been following pretty good myself, I figured I went through all of this so why would I NOT..... It is very hard thought, WOW I never really had the idea about how much head hunger I have......it is getting better now but I have my times that I just want to cry. It was told to me that I am just mourning food so I mourn I lost 16 lbs the first week home and then today I was down another 10 lbs so that is 26 lbs since surgery.... I do not have any pain except for the mending nerves on the top of my skin on my belly......it is so bothersome, even my shirt rubbing bothers me but I guess we are all different.... Take care Debra P

Hi Adra. I'm 8 1/2 months out, and -120 lbs so far. I had my gallbladder removed Friday (fun, fun) and am hoping to get a few more lbs out of it! I was about the same weight before surgery...277 the day I went in, having lost 10 lbs in the few weeks prior to surgery. My surgery was very smooth w/ no complications and a *very easy recovery (I'm finding it more difficult w/ the gall bladder for some reason). I mowed my yard (riding tractor) 4 days post op & returned to work (special ed teacher w/ autistic preschoolers) 1 week post op. I lost 20 lbs in the first 2 weeks, and about another 10 or so in the next 2 weeks. It's all in my profile......isn't it funny how time, regardless of how important something is, seems to make details fuzzy? I went from a 26/28 pant to a 10/12 (w/out the tummy skin, I could wear an 8).....snug 3x tops to a medium. No regrets here....the first 2 weeks w/ liquids only was tough...more trying to figure out how to get it all in at the right time, not to eat while drinking etc....and I did get a bit of head hunger, and I broke up w/ my best friend, donuts. Once I got over that, it's been smooth sailing, and food just doesn't have the same pull that it used to! YAY! Best wishes and congratulations! Claudia

Hi Adra, We are being banded a day apart! I see you also have Oxford Freedom. Have you received an approval letter from them? I am still waiting! What hospital will you be in and who is your surgeon? I'm getting excited and nervous too! Good luck to you! -Dee

Hi Adra It's perfectly NORMAL to be nervous and excited being so close to the start of a new and healthy lifestyle Don't worry about the esophograph the day after surgery...it really is no big deal....just a few sips to check for placement and to make sure you're not to tight and then the test is all done. Just a hint...make sure they give you 4mg of Zofran IV push before your test so you don't get nausea from the drinking....some people do. Feel free to read my profile about my journey and check out my picture trail....might make you feel alittle more at ease. Any questions...just drop me an email!! Jane aka The LI Princess 288/173/145 in 2005 is my goal -115 lbs
