Update on NYS Insurance delay
Hi Everyone. I got an email today from the NYS Insurance Department advising me that the malpractice insurance hitch for the NYS doctors has been resolved. Here's what they told me:
"Please be advised that MLMIC's new Bariatric Surgery classification has
recently been approved by the Department."
What that means is that now the malpractice carriers can charge the doctors higher rates for bariatric surgery. Which means some doctors will stop doing the surgery. The dox who do continue can go forward now, but I guess at some point they will raise their fees to cover the increased malpractice insurance, which means OUR insurance companies will come up with stricter guidelines to deny more surgeries to protect THEIR profits. What a racket!
Anyway, my doctor's office called to tell me that everything was settled, they got my insurance approval and my surgery is scheduled for July 12.
I'm a little scared, a little excited and a little overwhelmed.
