QUESTION ABOUT SMOKING.....
I HAVE A QUESTION I WILL BE HAVING MY SURGERY 7-05 I WILL BE GOING FOR MY PRE-OP TESTING THURSDAY. I USED TO SMOKE BUT NEVER REALLY CONSIDERD MY SELF A SMOKER BECAUSE I WOULD ONLY SMOKE WHEN I WAS OUT AND HAD A COUPLE OF DRINKS. NOW WHEN I STARTED THIS JOURNEY I KNEW THAT I WOULD HAVE TO COMPLETLEY STOP AT ONE POINT. WELL I FOUND MYSELF WITH IN THE PAST MONTH HAVING LIKE 1 OR 2 CIGS EVERY 3 OR 4 DAYS OR SOME TIMES I WOULD GO A WEEK WITH OUT HAVING 1. SO NOW I AM A LITLLE NERVOUS BECAUSE I HAVE TO TAKE A CARBON MENOXIDE TEST AND I AM WORRY THAT THEY WILL SEE THAT I HAVE SMOKED. HAS ANY ONE HAD THIS OR HAS SMOKED I KNOW EVERY DOCTOR IS DIFFERNT AND TESTS WILL VARY BUT I AM A LITTLE NERVOUS.
NICOLE

Hi Nicole... I know that my surgeon did the same nicotine test you are talking about.... I think it takes about 2 weeks for all the niotine to clear from your bloodstream, I know that my surgeon said 3 months of no smoking, and like you I had a few when nerves kicked in.... My last cigarette was about a month before my surgery.... I suggest you stop now and when you crave one, go for a walk or call someone to get your mind off of it... It's hard, but if I did it.... anyone can do it
But I was bad and went back to smoking a few weeks after surgery....
I know I can quit and I have to, just stressed looking for a job! Good Luck!
