Hello All,
I have a question, has anyone that had the lap RNY have pain in the nerves just under the skin on the tummy? I know that sometime when they are healing that they miss fire while trying. I have read that some where, but it feels so weird. It almost feels numb but even when my shirt brushes over that area, it hurts. Has anyone had that as well?
I will talk to my surgeons office when I go back in 4 weeks since it really is not a major problem but wanted to know if anyone else had that. I also read about it in the book Before and After by Susan Maria Leach but she did not say much about it. I was wondering how long it will last.
Thanks All......~hugs~

Debra,
I know what you mean....about even the shirt touching...at night I have to take mine off, and during the day I keep finding myself pulling it up to see where the pain is (I even accidently did it in the car the other day, I think the guy next to me thought I was giving him a show....not!!) Now that the little bandages are all off (except one) I'm feeling soooo much better...everything is healing. Give it a couple of weeks...Stay Naked! or in loose clothes. It will get better soon.
Love,
Janean

Janean,
Yeah it is so weird hun... That really is the only pain that I have with the exception of the area where the small drain was, that is still leaking like crazy but it is all good from what Dr Garber said. The spot where the JP drain was is healing and I have only a band aid so it stays clean. Also I started to leak a little bit from the spot just above my bell button, I emailed Dr Garber and he said that it was ok.
I called you today hun and left a message.....I hope you are doing well.....Lets talk soon.....~hugs~

Yes it's very common. Comes from the nerves being cut during surgery. It might or might not get better and could take a year.
I was still numb under my bellybutton when I had my hernia surgery in Feb. Now I'm numb in both hips and little bit above the bellybutton. The hips are numb because I had a tummy tuck at the same time as the hernia repair.

HEY DEBRa....i was having that weird tinge thing...sometimes i felt it was tightening type feel. I kept rubbing neosporin on my incicions and it really helped them, as if to soften them as they healed....also helpted the healing itches.....
NOw nothing bothers my incisions...hope u find relief, i dont know if that actually did it or not.
