I just had mine surgery done Lapriscopically...... I have 5 very small inch or less sized scars on my stomach that have healed lovely...not raised smooth. I didn t have staples or expernal staples not sure how it was sealed i imaigne stitched inside not out.... In two weeks time I was completely PAIN free, i came off pain meds in about 1 week. I had no complications and i tolerate all introduced foods to date. I began my work again in 12 days...even though my doctor wanted me to wait the full two weeks. I feel good and all things seem to be going well. THATS my storey we are all different. LISA PS: my surgeon required a 10 weight loss pre op he says that avoids much complications...every surgeon has different thoughts....it also gets the liver reduced and out of the way for a lap surgery. I lost 28 lbs post op (doc wanted 25) and now post and pre op in 2 weeks im down 48 lbs and thats nice. SO glad i lost a little before to boost my numbers!

definitely have a lap if possible.....it's a quicker recovery time. i had an open, because it was the only way my doctor does the procedure. i was out of work for 12 weeks due to complications and my job is physical. if i had a desk job i could have returned to work sooner. i develped a stricture 3 weeks out....not an unusual occurence. my scar was approx 6 inches long. i lost on avg 15 pounds a month. i started out at 282,only planned to get to 165-170, currently, weigh 135-140, at 5 foot 7. size 6!!! my weigh has been stabilized for about 1.5 years. would definitely do this all again!!!! donna open rny mar 18 2003 282/138/135

I had my lap RNY in Feb 2005 and was back to work after 2 weeks. I have 6 very small incisions, two have almost disappeared. I had no complications. I've lost 61 pounds in 4 months. Lap RNY - 244/183/139
