Dr. Herron

I'm thinking of switching my surgeon (I'm not getting the help with insurance from Dr. Rangraj's office and I'm totally frustrated with them at this point). Does anyone have any information, positive or negative, that they can give me about Dr. Herron and the bariatric program at Mt. Sinai?

Hi Dee--I've read nothing but good comments on Dr. Herron, although he's not the surgeon I chose. My surgeon is Dr. Roth, he's affiliated with White Plains Hosp--very, very good surgeon. I loved him from the moment I saw him while I was waiting for my first consultation with him. Also very good one is, Dr. Artuso in Dobbs Ferry (He's not covered by any insurance plan, though). The one I have is Dr Michael Shukhnecht at the CORI Center--he operates out of St. Vincent's. I read here about Mt. Sinai--you can look up hospitals it seems. My regular doctor wants me to consider switching surgeons but I really liked the guy I saw....it gets so confusing!

Why does your regular doctor want you to switch? It's hard to switch once you have made a decision.

Hi Dee I am using Dr. Herron. He is the Chief of Bariatics at Mt. Sinai. He is also an Associate Professor of Bariatrics at the hospital. He di the Surgery on my cousin who in a year has lost 130lbs. Hi Dee..... I am currently enrolled at the bariactric program at Mt. Sinai. I am seeing Dr. Kini. So far I believe him to be an excellent doctor, and have definately made up my mind to let him do my surgery. He is partners with Dr. Herron. The staff at Mt. Sinai have been truly great as well. You'll find Fonda to be very good to speak to. Jennifer the nurse is excellent and very knowledgable. Amy is the nutritionist there who specializes in Bariactric nutrition, and I must say she is also great. If you want my opinion, I really recommend Mt. Sinai. Hi Dee, Dr. Cerabona did my cousin's surgery in Feb. '04. She's done really well and lost 145 lbs. She had her surgery at either White Plains Hosp. or Westchester Medical Center.
