Hello All, Ok I wanted to ask about having Ricotta Cheese, I know it is on the stage 2 list but this is what the pack says and I am not sure if it to high in fat! Part skim 9% Fat = 6 grams 20% Sat. Fat = 4 grams Is that way to much fat to have? I found out today that is it my protein shakes that are giving me the gas.. I have the the Champion ones and today I got the Isopure Chololate one. I noticed as I am drinking it, I am bloating. I was fine before having a scambled egg and later having cottage cheese but now that I drank the shake it is bloating again.....GRRRRRR I need the shakes for the protein that this point because I am not eat enough of it right now and wanted to stay within the 40-60 grams. Well take care all and I hope you all are having a great weekend...~Hugs~ Debra P

Hi Debra, I have the same problem with the shakes...I bought the isopure...I get gassy if I make it with water or the lactaid/nonfat milk.... I have been using the part-skim ricotta...it was a suggestion from Ann Stossel. Janean

Janean, Yeah I was using water today because the soy milk was also giving me gas..... I guess I could try the 1% milk.... I think the Ricotta is not stage 2 because I did not see it on my list so I am going to wait on it. So many different stories huh...... Did you ever get my email hun? I will try again thru here..... Debra i think ur list is similar to mine and we can USe the ricotta stage 3 foods....I am not even on egg or cottage cheese yet.... My STAGE 2 foods are skim milk based foods: cream soups - blended to remove chunks, very runny mashed potatoes, SF puddin, shakes, SF, yogurt lo carb/no sugar, chocolate popsicles things like that. My next stage has eggs, cottage cheese and then i can probably due the ricotta. I have bought the skim milk ricotta cheese to make a italian.I follow my doctors list. All our doctors lists are a bit different. I am 11 days post op now. WEDNESDAY i move up a level then. GOOD LUCK....feel well. lisa

Ricotta was a stage 3 food for me also. I have issues with the tomato sauce. That gives me gas. As for the shakes I found the few weeks where I was gassy it turned out to be the way I was mixing the shakes. The blended was creating too much air in the shake. I went over to a hand shaker and found that worked well for me. I also use the premixed isopure juice. I find it very sweet but it has 40 grams of protein in 20 oz. I cut it in half with water and get 40 oz for the 40 grams and I sip at it all day. I also realized I could not drink regular milk. I switched over to the hood carb control and I have never looked back. I get both the skim and the chocolate milk and I use those. I love having the chocolate milk with a scoop of unflavored unjury power in it. yum yum. As for me and the isopure powers, I did great the first 2 weeks and then after that I could no longer swallow them. I wanted to throw up right away. Hope this helped. Eileen

Hi Debra: It sounds like you're feeling pretty good, apart from the gas problems. I use Myoplex carb sense and my nutritionist also recommends the lactade skim plus milk, which may help with the gas. We need the calcium too so I'm sure that's why the recommend the milk. As for the ricotta, I've used the part skim with part skim mozerrela (I know the spelling is awful ) and a couple of spoonfulls of Paul Newman's tomato sauce. It tastes like a calzone without the bread. I was allowed to have it during the first 3 weeks, but every surgeon and nutritionist requirements are different. Try bariatric eating.com and check out Susan Maria's book and shakes. I also use the Nectar...not bad. Take Care and be well! Karen
