Gaining weight!
Hi my NY friends,
My surgery is scheduled for 7/11. I seriously think I've gained at least 10 lbs since my consultation with the surgeon back in April. I think part of it is nerves and part is that "last meal" tour that I seem to be on. Did anyone else go through this? I am still waiting for insurance approval so I am a basket of nerves right now. I also haven't told my bosses yet that I will be having surgery and need the time off,not sure when or what to tell them. So all of this has me stressed to the max!!!

HI DEE....
truthfully????? if my surgeon didnt require pre op weight to be lost i probably would have put on 15 - 20 lbs myself. BUT he required me to loose 25 lbs and i did soo....i actually dropped 28 lbs...........
so now that I am post op and down another 15 my number down already
10 days in is 43 lbs and thats a great number!!!
GOOD LUCK
but your normal i just wasnt allowed to get into that last meal syndrom. ANd i know post op i will eat all the foods i always enjoy just in small amounts!
so try to think of it that way you will be able to eat just smaller amounts.

i can so relate to your post. i started my wls process in aug of 2002, but didn't have my surgery until march of 2003. i gained 20 pounds !!! at my first weigh in i was 260 pounds, the day of surgery i was 282. i contribute the gain to stress and a long good bye to food. i must admit i enjoyed myself.
as for telling your boss.... it depends..... how do you think your boss will react? for me, i didn't tell my boss the whole truth because i would have lost my job. my pcp wrote down hernia repair, which i did have done at the time. but legally you don't have to tell your boss what specifically you are having done.
good luck !!!! your day will be here before you know it.
