Update on the delay/halt in surgeries in NY

"The largest malpractice insurer in New York, the Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company, recently notified surgeons that it will end all coverage for bariatric surgeons on July 1, unless the state insurance department approves a 50 percent increase in premiums. " So reports Milt Freudenheim in a New York Times article on 5/27/05. I guess this is what the problem is with surgeries in NYS. Once again the insurance companies get to dictate to us and to the doctors, what our health will be. I'm back to not knowing what will happen with my surgery. Keep a good thought.
