Woke up on the other side
June 4, 2005
I'm back, I think? Man did I have a rough go of things. I bleed from every orifice of my body, all except my nose of which my Dr. was going to put a tube down it because of the concern I may rupture something but I begged him to please wait since I had a deviated septum and I knew it was not going to be easy or pleasant. Then there was the concern that I was going to need a blood transfusion but thank God that did not happen. I also ended up with a high fever of 103, which of course made the pain feel even worse. All I wanted was some acetamiphen for the awful headache. I also had to go 2 and half days with no water, Jell-O or broth. Now for all of you who are pre-op please realize that if things didn't go well I would not have the energy or strength to write this and yet here I am. I'm tired but feel so much better being out of the hospital. I have a very strong suggestion this "Isopre" protein flavored water really makes a difference in regaining your strength. It has 40 grams of protein in a 20 fl. Oz bottle. It also has other good stuff like 55mg calcium, 80mg sodium and 45mg potassium with 0 carbohydrates and only 160 calories. This stuff is really helping me feel stronger and I did check with my surgeon before I left the hospital if it was all right and he said yes. Thanks to the message board at Obesity help .com for that one. Well I'm feeling a little tired, I'll write soon. Now I know why someone suggested to write a list of reasons before you have the surgery to read while you recover. I think I'll whip up that list now.
