Acid Reflux?

I'm 4 1/2 weeks out and for the first time in my life, I'm suffering from acid reflux. It doesn't matter what I eat or when I eat. It's an awful feeling. My surgeoun recommends Pepcid chewable, 2x a day. I saw him for a follow-up appt on Friday and he gave me a prescription for Protonoix. Have anyone out there used this medication or have the same problem? It's almost to the point that I'm afraid to eat anything but yogurt and one can not live on yogurt alone. Also, as a sidebar, does anyone out there know of a website of book that list the nutrient grams and calories for foods? I'm trying to figure out how much I'm eating and if I need for protein. Hi there Laura! Sorry to hear about the Acid Reflux but I did have the same problem! My surgeon told me to take the Pepsid Complete and I did have to say yes it did work for me for a while. I wound up in the long run back on my Prevasid because for me the Pepsid just didn't do the trick anymore...really I am feeling wonderful and I have to say I am happy!!!!!!! Hope this helps. Hiya Laura, Sorry to hear about your reflux - that has to be uncomfortable. My surgeon had me on Pepcid twice a day from the surgery through 6 weeks out. If I missed even one pill I could feel it - not fun. I never used Protonoix so I have no information - sorry. A good website for calculating how much you are eating and the protein and other nutrients you are getting is fitday.com - the free one is fine, no reason I saw to pay for the upgraded one. Hi Laura. I had the same problem everything I would eat would come right up. It is the worst feeling in the world. My Internist perscribed me prevacid and I can say in 2 years I have not had an episode of reflux at all. Also, I used to get bad heart burn that this medication also resolved

I had severe acid reflux before my surgery and I can relate to how uncomfortable it is. I am 2 months post op and from the day I had surgery my doctor has me on prevecid 2 times a day. I have one more month and then I think he will decrease it. This works for me and I have no problems at all. Protonix is good but I didnt think it was as good as Nexium or Aciphex. Is the protonix working for you? Hope this helps.......

Thanks so much for your input! I started the Protonix this morning and it seems to be working so far. This whole process is exciting but everything that I knew to be true about my body is no longer true. I've said farewell to the "old" body and I don't miss it.
