question post-op
You will be surprised how much help you DON'T need following the surgery. It was certainly, for me, the easiest thing I ever recuperated from. What you do need is to feel comfortable, and if it makes you feel more comfortable to have more family around, well what the heck! Have them over.
Good luck! See you on the losing side!
Carol, everyone's recovery is different. Depends on the person. I have friends that had a hard time with the surgery - meaning they were very sick, felt very weak and in pain, and had a hard time moving around on their own and doing much for themselves initially. I was blessed in that besides soreness and an inability to get comfortable in bed, I really didn't have a hard time.
If your husband and adult daughter will be around most of the time but your brother will be able to stay with you throughout the day, I'd say to invite him over for a few days just to be on the safe side. If you find you're doing well, then he can go home if he chooses.
Good luck to you.
I had my surgery on 4/21 and my husband was with me to help out but after about 7 days I didn't need much help at all. In fact, by day 12 post-op, I was painting my living room, dining room and hallway with my husband!
You may not need your brother but I'd have him on call just in case.
I hope all goes well and am looking forward to updates!!
