I NEED SOME HELP !!

I CALLED MY SURGEON YESTERDAY AFTERNOON TO SEE IF WE COULD PUT MY SURGERY ON HOLD FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND WAS TOLD THAT IF I DONT HAVE IT BY JULY 1ST I CANT HAVE IT DONE !!! I ASKED WHY AND WAS TOLD TO CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY SO I DID AND WAS TOLD THAT I AM ONLY APPROVED UNTIL 7/1 AND IF I DONT USE MY FIRST APPROVAL THEN THEY WILL NOT REAPPROVE ME ! AS SOME OF YOU KNOW I HAVE BEEN BATTLING A LUNG INFECTION FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS AND BECAUSE I COULD NOT WORK AND HAD TO KEEP GOING TO THE ER MY JOB FIRED ME BECAUSE I COULDNT WORK I WAS SO WEAK IVE TRIED TO GO THROUGH UNEMPLOYMENT AND GET HELP BUT BECAUSE I WAS LET GO I AM NOT ELLIGABLE SO I WENT TO SOCIAL SERVICES AND AGAIN WAS TOLD SORRY YOU CAUSED YOURSELF TO BE FIRED SO I CANT GET THERE HELP SO WERE DO I TURN NOW ? THE OTHER DAY I POSTED AND GOT A FEW REPLIES AND ALSO UPDATED MY PROFILE AND A FEW PEOPLE HAD A IDEA IF I COULD FIND SOME PEOPLE THAT WOULD HELP LIKE BY SENDING 5.00 DOLLARS THAT WOULD HELP BUT I DONT NOW HOW TO ASK IF THE ONES THAT SUGGESTED IT COULD RE EMAIL ME AND EHLP ME FIGURE IT OUT I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT JUST SO NO ONE THINKS WE ARE BUMMS MY HUBBY WORKS BUT WITH OUT MY PAY WE CAN ONLY PAY BILLS AND NO FOOD ITS ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE ROB PETER TO PAY PAUL I VOWED WHEN I GREW UP I WOULD NOT LET MY KIDS GO WITH OUT MAYBE THIS JUST ISNT FOR ME ???????? MAYBE I WAS NOT MENT TO BE A REAL LOSER ? SORRY FOR IT BEING SO LONG I JUST SIT HERE AND CRY ! SORRY THANKS LISA

Lisa that is what the insurance companies do they give you a date that you must have the surgery by, that is what happened to me too but I only had less then a week to have surgery when I finally got my approval....I believe if you have the documents that you were sick and in and out of the hospital you can fight unemployment as long as you have the documents.....and I would fight it since you did work and pay for it you should be entitle to it... I wish you the best in what ever decision you make, it is very hard to get approved so if you are not working and able to have it then go for it, but the decision is up to you..... Did you try to apply for just food stamps you might want to try that since your hubby works..... Lisa, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your job and your lung infection. Please know that we are here for you and you can cry on my shoulder anytime. I know for a FACT that you can receive unemployment... all you have to do is request a hearing! And I also know that NY State does NOT deny you benefits because you were fired. They are only allowed to determine your eligability by your household size and income. I do empathize with your situation, but I don't condone asking strangers for money. If you apply for Welfare and have problems then you ask to speak to the Office supervisor!! KNOW YOUR RIGHTS and do not let them intimidate you! Best wishes Jalonda

I am sorry to hear about your medical and employment problems. I agree a lot with what Jalonda said. If you are in poor health, were fired from your job because of attendance problems, then I think you are entitled to unemployment benefits and should fight to get them. Also, because of your health issues and inability to work, you may qualify for public assistance and if so, medicaid as well. Since you were let go from your job and I assume your health coverage was tied in with that, you only have about 30 days (I believe) to remain covered under that insurance anyway - which is before the July 1st date that your insurance carrier gave you to have the surgery. Odds are they may not cover it now anyhow - unless you continue to pay your premiums directly - which is outrageously expensive. I feel for you but I think you need to research your options. If you are able to get medicaid, I know that they do pay for the surgery and that may be an option for you to consider at this time. I wish you the best.
