Weight Loss History requirements
I lost over a hundred pounds after being on weigh****chers for more than a year. Obviously I gained all the weight back and have yo yo'd all my life. But all the photographic and documents in the world don't matter. Apparently Aetna doesn't think that's enough. Aetna requires 3mos medically supervised weight loss. IT's rediculous, I would understand maybe if I hadn't accomplieshed anything on weigh****chers.
Very frustrated with this whole thing...
Now I have to spend 3 mos. going on a supervised diet with the nutritionist!! LIKE IT'S GONNA MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!
REDICULOUS!

Hi Enzo,
I know it's really really frustrating. The office I go to doesn't usually submit paperwork for 2-3 months from your first visit, so we are already on a supervised diet. When I have my surgery in June it will be 10 months from the time I turned in my paperwork.
I know it's really hard to be patient, but use the three months to modify your behaviors. Slow down your eating, learn to chew 25-30 times with each bite, learn how to not drink any liquids with your meals. This will really help you get prepared for your surgery, and you'll probably lose a few pounds in the process. My doctor requires weightloss prior to surgery to help shrink the liver a little to make lap surgery easier.
The time will go by very quickly, I promise. And since you have everything else done, just try to think of this as prep time. It will only help you succeed down the road.
God bless, and if you need anything just pop me an email.
All the best, Deb

Enzo,
I know it sucks and I had to do a 6 month weight loss program with Dr and Nutritionist weigh in's, every month for 6 months. I was so bumped but it really did go fast AND it really was for the best. In our case we had a fire in Jan when I would have gone for surgery and it could have been so much worse if I was in that conditions when the fire happened, or worse yet if we were not at home for the 2 weeks because I am having this done on Long Island and we are staying at my Mom's. For me I come to see that this really did happen for a reason.....
Hun hang in there and it will go really quick, mean while get yourself all ready for surgery and be prepared.....I wish you the best and keep us posted......~hugs~

Enzo,
You should check with Liz - I think the clock for the 3 month supervised diet should start with your first appointment. Or better yet, with the first appointment you had with your primary doctor. This should work if he documented your weight during your visits.
Also, don't rule out the value of your past diet histories. I included a whole history with pictures and all of the ups and downs of my weight. I don't know for sure that it helped; but it surely didn't hurt.
