Blanca,
Hun it really is up to you but this is why I chose to go with the RNY instead of the lapband.....my surgoen said that the lapband had 50% weight loss while the rny had 80%, but I have seen so many people doing so awesome on the lap.... I also said if I an going through all of this I need something that will be with me for the rest of my life not something that can be taken out. I also did not like the idea of having to go for the fills all the time or that shunt under my skin....
That is why I am having the RNY but again hun it is really up to you, take your time and read, read, read!!!!!
I wish you the very best in what ever you choose.....~hugs~ just keep us posted.....

Im going through the same indecision. I am scared about the Bypass but the idea of a plastic band has me worried to. After talking to my Surgeon he explained that both have a very similar risk factor (less than 1% but the Bypass will assist in losing a substanial about of more weight. Also it seems the more I investigate the Band it seems it has alot more Mainteance involved. when all is said and done I am leaning toward having the Bypass but you have to decide whats right for you. I have been asking every Dr. I have been seeing and Im being told for my cir****tance the Bypass is the right more. Perhaps as you go along you could ask your Dr the same questions. Good luck to you.
Blanca,
It is an individual decision...people who have bypass swear by it, and there are people who have the band and swear by it.
I'm having bypass in 2 days!!!!! I personally wanted a higher % of weight loss since I'm going through surgery, and also I didnt like the idea of fills. but again there are plenty of people who have had it and have been very successful. At your consult with your surgeon go over both thoroughly that is what the consult is for.....some consultations can be 2 hours. Make a list of all your questions and go over each one.
