Finally decided to have WLS !
I am so scared. For the first time in my life, I am taking a drastic step towards weight loss. After many failed diets, I have finally made the decision to have WLS. I am in serious need of your thoughts, and words of inspiration. I am looking foward to having you guys help calm my fears. My first consult is June 1, 2005...........Hooray !!!
Hi Blanca:
I know how your feeling. I just had my surgery on May 5th after months and months of contemplating and researching and soul searching. I have a lot of health issues that are present because of my weight and I needed to do this for me. For now, thank God I am doing fine and I continue to pray that I will continue to be. You will have to make all your decisions for yourself, but as for me, it was the only way to go.
Best wishes and good luck throughout your journey,
Karen

Blanca,
Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey...It is a major life decision to be made after much thought and contemplation. And after your consult you will get a list of Dr.'s and tests that you will need to have, and at times it will seem overwhelming, but in the long run you will be able to make an informed, educated decision.
Good luck,
Janean

Blanca,
Welcome hun and congrats on your decision to have WLS.... This does take some thought and it seems consume your thoughts....
My fist consult I canceled because I was just to scared, I felt I was not ready at the time or else I would have wanted to go through it but canceled and made it for a month later. It went well but I was still so scared and nervous...as I went through all my pre-testing I became more excited about having surgery and then finaly I was done. THEN came the waiting to get a date and Ins Approval. Well it took about 2 weeks and I am on my way... I will be having surgery June 6th....
I am still very nervous but starting to feel a little better about this, see I also have a fear or Dr's so this was not easy but I really want this for my health so I have been moving forward. This board has been a life saver for me and they are now my AMOS family. They will also help you a great deal, please keep us posted of your progess.....WELCOME ~hugs~

Hi Blanca,
Congratulations! I know it's a very scary thing but believe me you will not regret it for one moment. I had my surgery May 2 and I'm doing Fantastic We're all here to help eachother. If you want to get a jump start on things start looking for the following types of doctors: Pulmonologist, Cardiologist, Psychiatrist or social worker, nutritionist. These are some of the people who you will have to see. Your surgeon may have recommendations, check it out. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Blanca,
Congratulations to you!!! You have taken the first step to a better life. I did a ton of research and watched a friend go through it before I decided to go ahead with this. I have been approved by my insurance but I am waiting for a surgery date. I can't wait, it is all I think about. My surgeon is waiting to get the o.k. from Albany, where he did his residency, to start doing laproscopic RNY. He has done the surgery there, but has to wait for their go ahead. I am about ready to say I will have it open instead.
Everyone on this board is so supportive, they are absolutely wonderful. If you are feeling down they find a way to bring you up. If you are excited they find a way to make you even more excited!!
There are people out there that will have different views on your decision. Stay strong and make it your decision don't let negative change comments your mind. Everyone is here for you, always remember that. We are all on a journey together to a new and better life.
Best of luck!!
Kathy
Congrats on the first step. I made the same decision recently and have begun the process. I cant wait for it as well. I made a promise to my 2 daughters Alexa 9 and Victoria 6 that I would be skiing with them this winter. Last winter I sat around the Lodge all day. I am very excited to the doors that will be opened. good luck and God Bless you.
