ARGH!!! PSYCH OFFICE BEING PROBLEMATIC!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh! I am so frustrated I want to scream! I have my psych consult tomorrow morning and this afternoon I got a message on my machine from the dr's office saying that I didn't have my referral in and that they wouldn't be able to meet with me until I got that in. Well, my insurance plan told me that I didn't need a referral. I know this because when I called my PCP's office for the referral, they said I didn't need one - and when I called Independent Health to verify this, they also said I didn't need a referral because based on my plan - it was all already covered. I could just show my insurance card and it would be fine. SO, how do I explain this to the person working in their office tomorrow? I left a message, but I just have this gut feeling it's going to be a problem. if I have to reschedule because of some stupid insurance mix-up - I will be so upset!!!!!!!!! Does anyone else here have Independent Health w/ no referrals necessary? I didn't need one to see my bariatric surgeon or to get my bloodwork and urine analysis done. In fact, all those visits have already been covered under my plan with no referrals!!!! ARGH!!!!

I would have them call your insurance co. to verify the fact that you dont need a referral. Can you access your benifits and insurance info from the computer? If you can...it should explain clearly your benefits and when you need a referral. Hope this helps a bit...I know these appointments can get to you after awhile...hang in there. Janean

Lisa, I have to agree with Janean, have them calll your Ins while you are there or print out the info online that says you do NOT need a regerral if you can. I hate dealing with all of this stuff...
