Anyone having dreams about...
I have been having dreams about losing my hair. In my dreams I have been losing hair by the handfulls. Last night I was actually bald on the top with just a little hair around the top and sides. I have been dreaming about it last week and now this week also.
My hair takes forever to grow and I am worried about that being a factor. I am only 8 weeks out and I heard that it starts to fall out at the 4 month mark. I talked to a friend of mine and she said that I am having these dreams, because its a fear of mine. She also said that I have plenty of hair, so dont worry about it. But I do!
So any input on help in this area would be great!
Thanks!
Tara
Hi Tara,
I am 6 months post-op and have lost little to none.....I eat LOTS of protien and take my vits faithfully. I am a hairstylist for a living and would be a sad looking one if I lost my hair!!! Just relax, stress can cause your hair to fall out too ya know!!! You'll be fine.....

I do take my vitimans, 2 a day. I think I get a decent amount of protien in. I havent done the shakes though. I have a hard time drinking things that are too thick. The whole gag reflexes are in full effect for me. I thinki ts cause I have had to drink too many bowel preps...eewww...ok moving on...
Thanks for you input!
Tara
I have a hard time too with the thick protein drinks. Have you tried the nectar drinks? They are much better. I have lemonade, grape and fuzzy navel flavors. Not bad and can be added to other drinks to enhance them too. I get mine from bariatriceating.com but I know they have them alot of places. They also have samples to try first. Good luck!
Hi Tara! I think what you are experiencing may be normal. I am 5 months out and my hair is falling out terribly but I would rather be skinny and bald than fat again.
Consult your surgeon first.... but you might want to invest in a vitamin called biotin 600 mcg, it nourishes your hair folicles. I started taking 2 tablets daily about 1 week ago and I have seen a little change. The salesman at GNC said that it would take a month for the major results to show so it may be wise to start taking it before you start losing hair at all. It also helps to get in MASSIVE amounts of protein.
Good luck and I hope this helps.

I'm awaiting my surgical appt, but had some experience with this issue when I was doing Medifast with Johns Hopkins Univ Hospital in Baltimore several years ago. I also lost some hair, but it wasn't anything that anyone noticed but me...and that's because it was coming out when I brushed my hair. Biotin is one of the B-complex vitamins, and Hopkins recommended it. I did find that it helped. According to them, the hair loss occurs when you are "in ketosis", which is the state your body achieves when you are in a heavily reduced carb state...you are burning fat. As you reintroduce foods (though never back to the same level!!) your body will readjust and the hair loss should slow/stop. Hope that helps!

Hi Tara,
Those dreams you are having, for most of us is a reality. I started losing my hair at about 5 months out. I am not talking a strand here and there either. My hair was very thick, but now you can see my scalp. I use hot rollers and they slide out because of lack of hair to grip, especially on the sides and top.
Even though I was faithfully taking my vitamins and protein, this side effect of the surgery is real. One thing I can say is, because I was doing so well on the above, I can grow a handful of beautiful nails...lol
The good news is, I am now 8 months out, and see a decline in the loss. There is also a signifigant amount of noticable new growth throughout the scalp.
There are additional vitamins I use for this loss, they are Skin, Nails and Hair, and Biotin.
This loss will pass, and a small inconvienence for the new life I lead.
Take Care,
Sue
Like others said, the dreams are probably cuz you are stressing about it. I lost what I thought was ALOT of hair at my 4-5 month out time. But even though I thought it was so noticeable, others said they couldnt tell. I have thick hair normally so that may have helped hide it some. I got it cut into layers also to help. It stopped after 2 months and now is growing back. My best friend now says she can see how much I had really lost because of whats growing back in lol. So dont sweat it, you will probably be the only one that really notices it too much and it will come back.
