Diet Coke...
I'm thinking it's between you and your doctor and nutritionist. I have soda every now and then. Remember with the DS surgery, we don't have a "pouch" to stretch out. However, I had a sip a couple of months out and thought I'd die because of the bloating from the carbonation. I now (wnenever I have soda) stir it up so I can have the taste without the carbonation or get a fountain diet soda and let it get a bit flat.
My doc told me that the "bubbles will stretch your pouch" thing is an old wives tale. Literally.
Considering, especially at first, that you can only drink a little bit at a time, there isn't enough carbonation--and the carbonation does NOT have enough force--to stretch your pouch. My doc said the reason he will tell people to be careful about soda (we're assuming diet here) is because of the bloating and discomfort it will cause some. Myself, I've cut my presurgery addiction down to a can or two a day...but I enjoy that, and there's NO danger in stretching my pouch with it.
I was told no carbinated drinks post op!
NO drinking with the meals
I just do as I am told!!!!!!
PEPSI also came out with a SPENDA version PEPSI ONE...
I am pre op and tried it its good.
I know alot of people doing strict atkins will go for these
diet beverages as when the big lo carb kick was "IN" you
only were able to have diet rite sodas and they were never
on sale!
CHECK with you doc on his policy with the soda!
