Are there any Dos and Don'ts i need to be aware of before hand? I know the nutritionist is an important part of getting approved, so I don't want to screw this up. I have been studying all the nutritional guidelines for post WLS diet and stuff, but is there anything else? -Enzo

Hi Enzo, You will do just fine with your nutritionist. They are there to help prepare you for your surgery now and for following. You have done a lot of research here and that's great. Since each surgeon is different in what they require of their patients just follow the nutritionist's guidelines. It helps to keep a food diary, especially if your doctor requires some weightloss prior to surgery. It also helps you to understand your own eating patterns. You are going to do great. Keep us posted. All the best, Debra

Enzo, The nutritionist appointment was actually the most relaxed for me. The part of her paperwork that was important for me, was the diets and dates that I was on them and the amount I lost on each one. It was so hard to remember. So maybe you can just jot some down for yourself so you dont go in blank.....she also asked me about my eating habits now, and what I would definately have to change. Hope that helps a bit. Janean

Hey Enzo: I agree with Janean, the nutritionist was the most relaxed of all the required doctors/tests. My nutritionist went over different ways of getting protien into your diet and basic guidlines for eating healthier after surgery. She also discussed the different weight loss programs I have been on ( Weigh****chers, Jenny Craig, etc. ) She put all of that into her final report, so you may want to refresh your mind on the different diet plans/ pills you tried and a rough estimate of dates you were on them. Thats really the only thinking I had to do throughtout the whole appointment. The rest of the time I just sat back and listened. At the end I was given a guidline of "Diet Progression After Surgey"... what I can expect to be able to eat at 48 hrs after, 1-2 weeks after, 2-4 weeks...etc. It's pretty helpful...especially for an after surgey shopping list. Relax - you will do great. -D
