You may not remember, but I posted a few weeks ago that the process was moving really slowly for me...I went to the group meeting in mid-March, the psych eval wasn't until 4/12 and the first nutrition appt I could get wasn't until 5/20!! Well....I got a call last Friday with a (very) rare cancellation with the nutritionist, and I had the appt yesterday afternoon! It went fine and they passed me through without the need for any additional appts. With all the money I've spent in the past on nutritionists, weigh****chers, etc., I would hope I know a lot about that stuff!!! Anyway, I'm now scheduled for my surgical consultation with Dr. Boss on 5/16 - 2 weeks!! I'm excited, but still nervous - until the insurance is submitted and approved, it won't feel real to me. I'm one of those lucky ones with 100 lbs (over 40 BMI) to lose but few co-morbitities......yet. I hope Empire Blue Cross has figured out that it's pay-me-now or pay-me-later!! Just wanted to share my news....have a great day!! Alison

Alison, That is great that things are moving forward for you.... I have just completed all my pre-stuff and just got Ins Approval last week and it still does not seem real or maybe it does and the nervous feeling has changed to excitement. Today was the first day in a week that I really got nervous for a little bit.... Well that passed and now I am back to being excited.... So many emotions..... I still have 4 1/2 weeks to go until surgery!!!! I also have a BMI over 40, and few co-morbitites and all went ok for my Ins Approval and I was told that GHI was the worse for getting approval so I bet yours will go through. They do not require a 6 month weight loss program? Mine did and that is where I was hung up for a bit... Please keep us posted and let us know how it is all going for you.... Take care ~hug~ Debra P

When I called them, they did not mention a six-month requirement, but who knows what they'll do when they actually get the request! I hope not, as I'm trying to get this scheduled by 8/1 - after September my work life gets nuts until about February with year end planning and then starting out the next year, so I wouldn't be able to get it done until next March or April. It's up to God and the health insurance gurus....just keeping my fingers crossed that it goes through!! Thanks for the good thoughts!!!!

Hey Alison: Hang in there..... everything seems to move in slow motion when you are going through all the testing, but before you know it - you will have a surgery date and crossing over to the "losing side". Best of luck. -D

You took the words right out of my mouth D. I am in that testing stage until the end of next week, my final appt 5/14 THEN I get my surgery date! Counting the days. Seems like forever... Good luck Alison with your journey! -Dee
