boss/upset re: surgery
Oh my god! My boss just reemed me. I let her know what I was doing weeks ago when I needed time off from work. She had nothing negative to say, actually she was encouraging.
Well, this morning I went into her office to let her know that my surgery date is scheduled for may 23, as long as my ulcer is cleared, she said great! I told her I would need 2-3 weeks of from work. Then she said why? When I explained it to her, she went bezerk...It seems she thought I was having the band, she knows people who who have it and recovered quickly. She said I was out of my mind to have the bypass.
anyway...just venting

Its not her place to pass judgement on you like that Seems lie she could use a lesson in work ettiquite(sp?)
Janean
Please DO NOT let your boss influence you one bit in deciding how much time you need away from work for recovery. This is something you are doing for your health and you need to take as much time as needed. Do not rush yourself to go back to wor****il you and your Dr. feel you are ready. When I had my surgery I needed to take 6 weeks to recoop because of my job working in Special Ed and physically and mentally challenged high school students. Your boss really needs to keep her comments to herself especially when she feels it necessary to compare your sugery to others. She needs to also be reminded that each person is an individual and each surgery is based on each individual.
Good Luck and Keep us informed,
Hugs

Janean,
Well that would off is someone acted like that and I would most likely say something not so nice to someone like that.... but then again I can be that way....
I just told my boss in an email that to schedule me out for 1 month....I might not need all that but that is what I told him..... of course after my 2 week vacation I will have to be on Short Term Dis but I am not even sure how that will work......
Well I wish you the very best hun....~hugs~
Take care

Hi Janean, girl keep ur head up, cause one bad apple dont spoil the bunch. for me this site has been a blessing. so where u dont find comfort on the outside, the people here seem to care on the inside. dont let ur selfish boss bring ur high down about having the surgery.if ur intitled to the time off, so be it. if not then i guess u have to all of a sudden get sick for two weeks. do what u have to do for u.......goodluck
Because of what you just went through Janean is exactly why I decided not to tell anyone. My husband knows of course, my daughter knows and is actually having the surgery done as well and thats really about it. Once I get a surgery date I'll inform my 16 year old and my 20 year old that live at home still that Im having surgery.
The outside world can be so cruel sometimes and I think that we, as overweight people, have put up with enough cruelty and discrimination in our lives.
Hang in there Janean, I'll keep you in my thoughts.
Blessings,

Laurie,
My husband and my boss are, well were, the only ones I was telling. Everyone else would have a negative opinion.
The outside world can be cruel. And so many people just dont understand. They think overweight is synonomous with lazy. And we should just go on a diet and exercise.
My boss just recently lost 100 lbs...well it took her 2 years, it was with diet and exercise, but she had this exercise/diet guru live with her. High Voltage is her name, she also has a cook and a full gym and a pool in her house......
thank you for you post.
Janean
