needed advise

Im still waiting for a surgeon appoointment, I have the nutritionist ok, but I cant seem to get all the needed paperwork from physicians in, so that they can schedule my eval appointment with the surgeon. Here is my delemia, My husband and I went to Hawaii 25 years ago with several of our friends, we have been saving and are returning to Hawaii with the same friends the 2nd week of august of this year for 2 weeks. We want to go snorkling and site seeing which I wouldnt have any problems doing now. I have heard so many stories of people having prolems, im not sure if I should wait until I return from Hawaii and then have the surgery, because I am sure we will never return and I dont wont to be sick or having compliceations while away. Please give me your opinion should I wait or should I have the surgery. The surgeons ofice said if everything is in by May, I would probably have suregery sometime in June. That would be 8 weeks post op

Can't wait to see the answer to this question. I can have my surgery in Mid-May but have a cruise booked at the end of June. I cannot decided what to do either. Good luck with your decision. I heard Hawaii is like heaven on earth. Have fun! Barbara M.

Barbara the same goes for you, you need to talk to your surgeon about it...at this point you don't know what or if you will have any complications....so please talk to your surgeon before you go away... Christine

I will hope you have no complications.....this is something you really need to talk about with your surgeon......I can't tell you the answer to this because you do know the risk of surgery and when we have surgery we hope we have no complications but there is always that chance....I don't want to scare you....but can you change your vacation time for Sept..... I would think if you have no complications and your doctor clears you, you would be able to go on vacations and enjoy yourself, but please talk to you surgery before you go.... I will be praying for your date so you can being your new lifestyle... Christine

I had a similiar dilemma myself. I am an LPN and was accepted into the RN program this fall but I just sent in my letter to decline and I will go next year. I want to be fully recovered and in a better way for myself. I would say it is a personal opinion but I would discuss it with my surgeon also. Beth
