I HAVE THE OPPOSITE PROBLEM!!!

I am 25lbs. away from my goal weight of 135 having lost 85lbs and you would not believe what my problem is...I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO BUY ANY CLOTHES BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHERE I BELONG IN THE STORES. I am so used to going over to the PLUS SIZE section and that was my only option, but now, I'm not sure if I need to be in the Juniors, Misses, (or even the PLUS SIZE the way they cut clothes now). I JUST got in from a clothing store and walked out with NOTHING, despite seeing things I liked. I was in the PLUS SIZE/MISSES section and did realize that I was smaller than the women there, but then I looked over at the JUNIORS and felt that I was too big to go over there. Maybe it's a mental thing, but I still feel big, but then I see the 18W's and the 2X's and know they won't fit anymore, but feel awkward in the section that has 6's and 8's; smalls and mediums. I hear all of your wonderful post op stories about shopping like crazy and I haven't been able to shop. I'm actually a bit scared to shop so I've been sewing and tucking the clothes that I do have because I'm used to them. The money is definitely not the problem, I believe it's the mind. Anyone else have this experience??

Candie, Congrats on your weight loss. When I was in the same situation I went to the local Walmart and took three different sizes in the changing room to try on. I knew that 18's would be too big that I took in a 16, 14, and 12. Well when I got done I was actually not in any of those sizes either and by that time was down to an 8. After that I have enjoyed shopping, probably way too much seeing how my closet is over full and not one item in there is bigger than a size 8 now. Those first couple pair of pants I thought for a long time that there is no way I am gonna get my big butt in them but they did fit. I still see myself as being fat when actually I wear a size 4 or 6 depending on the size. Teri 243/121

Hi Candie Please stop sewing and tucking your clothes, go in to the juniors and pick something out take 2 differet sizes and go to the fitting room ( I know I never tried on clothes in a store before but you have to now so you don't keep going back to change them this way you know what size you are) you are doing a great job and you should be rewarded, so go and shop for some clothes that fit if your not sure what to get take someone with you and if you need me to go with you I will, you need someone who will help you get your size right and not big....you don't want big clothes because when you wear clothes that are to big for you it makes you look bigger than what you really are and I think that is what you are looking at....so you let me know if you need me to help just say the word.... you still see yourself big and that's because you are still wearing the same clothes that you were before surgery taken them in is not going to help you need to do something special for yourself and that means buy some new clothes girl..... I wish you the best anything I can do to help like I said just say the word and I will shop with you... christine

Teri and Christine thanks so much for responding to my vent session. I do need to get over my nervousness about buying clothes for my new size. And Christine you are definitely right about treating myself...the old clothes sewed and tucked aren't helping. Honestly, I do feel that Target may be a start since it isn't a clothing store per se. I just get nervous in clothing stores where there are sections for different sizes. I'll work on that but for now Target will have to do. Thanks again
