Has anyone have to do an advanced sleep study? Don't know if that is exactly what is called. Had a regular sleep study. Dr said very mild sleep apnea but my oxygen level goes real low. Test is something with a mask and they blow oxygen done your throat? Does not sound fun and know this should hold me up atleast another 6 weeks to get a surgery date. Thanks everyone- Barbara McHugh

Barbara, The advanced sleep study is called "titration". It is to determine the amount of pressure you need to keep you in a safe mode during your sleep. It does take some time to get used to the mask, and there are many kinds out there. Mine is very small and just goes under my nose, not over my face. I am very attached to it (since 1996) and am actually afraid to get off it at this point. I have to have another study to see where I am after 84 pounds gone! I use the CPAP machine and an oxygen concentrator for extra O2. I want to get off both and be able to go and sleep anywhere, okay, that does not sound right but you know what I mean, lol. I do not see this as something that would postpone surgery if you can get it done right away. When you have your surgery you need to bring the machine with you to the hospital for post op care. Good Luck, Lori
