Just started the process....

Hello, all! I figured it would be helpful to get hooked up with all of you losers early on to help me make it through the process! I'm in the early stages....just got my PCP referral and I have my psych appt tomorrow. Nutrition isn't until 5/20...does everyone have to wait forever to get in to nutritionists? I picked the wrong employment field if you do!!!! Anyway, I'm moving forward, and I'm looking forward to learning all I can as I go.... Hello Allison and welcome to the family you have made a hard but wise decison to have wls......the process can be very emotional but you have to stick it out and fight fight fight, that's an awful long time for a nutritionist, did you need a refarral from your pcp, due to insurance company or are you able to pick a surgeon..... keep me posted on what you are doing we love to help, you will find everyone will answer question and you will make many friends here too... wishing you the best through out your journey to a healthier and happier lifestyle... Hi Allison, I am also in the starting stage...but I got my appt with the nutritionist one week after I called. Now its on to all the other tests... Maybe you could be referred to another nutritionist? Good luck with your journey! Dee

My surgeon provides the nutritionist free of charge and she is in his office reasonable hours so i got in withint a week!!!! Over all the appointments i made were within a 2 week window. But some needed follow up appointments which added another week or two but im finally complete with all that stuff and go to see the Surgeon next week. My fear is my surgeon required a small weight loss prior to surgery and i have only done some of what he wanted gone. I Worry this is gonna stop surgery...and ill be devestated. GOOD LUCK in the process! Sort of fun to know for sure were in good health!

I wish you all the best on your New Journey and may you have an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery!!!!!!! As for the process sometimes it takes longer that others, I know for me it felt like forever but to be honest it really wasn't. Hello! That is a long time to wait to see the nutritionist. If you can not go somewhere else, then call every other day or so for a cancellation. My doctor had a nutritionist on the premesis and she was accesible at all times. Good Luck and keep us posted!

Alison Welcome! You have made a very difficult decision, but one you will not regret. You sure came to the right place for answers to the many questions you might have. Not all of us are losers yet! I was scheduled for 3/17, but our insurance changed 3/1 and we had no notification. The new ins. co. would not accept the decision of old ins. co. so now I am in the process of completing a 3 month program of nutrition and exercise. As far as the nutritionist appt. goes, my surgeon has a nutritionist, psychologist and a nurse manager in his practice. After the consult visit, I was given an appointment for "intake" in which I and others met with this part of the staff in a group, then one on one. Have you checked with your surgeon to see if he has a nutritionist in his office? Again, welcome to the family.
