Hey ladies and gents! Ok so I have 2 weeks to go till my surgery day. I received my packet of information in the mail today. Scheduled for April 20th at 8am!! woo hoo So with that, I wanted to make a check list for what to pack for my few day stay in the hospital. Does anyone have a check list that helped them? I sorta wanna bring my own pajama set, is that allowed? Anyone have any thoughts. Let me know!!

Evelyn! Thank you I know I'm bringing my own pillow for my coughing pillow. I even considered bringing my own comforter to feel a little more at home. I don't know if I can do that or not , so I'm going to find out. It's kinda like my security blanket. I always have it when I'm sick. Thanks for your help

Hi Melissa, I know you must be excited!!!! Well personally, I took a bunch of stuff but I went home in the same clothes I went in (looses sweats, sneakers, clean undies though-LOL, and sneakers). I packed a robe, slippers, book, toiletries, gameboy, CD player, chapstick.......and all I used were the toiletries, and chapstick. If I wasn't sleeping I was walking, talking on phone or with visitors or getting stuck with a needle or taking meds----LOL. I wish you the best of luck on the 20th. Hugs, Presh in NY 395/286/160ish

I was never able to wear my own pj's because of the IV's and cathiters etc. Plus I would not want to get blood etc on my own things. My hospital gave me a "bariatric pillow" it has a pic of RNY on it and it was so handy :> I took it to my support group and had everyone sign it. Good luck and heal quick :> Mary

Hey Melissa...Congratulations! I am only 3 weeks out, but I will share with you somethings that others shared with me that made a BIG difference. I did bring my own jammies and a robe and slippers. Got a lot of use out of all 3! Chapstick a must! tampons or pads as you are likely to start because of the blood thinners...I did (would have NEVER thought of that but glad the info was shared) and I brought my own single servings of Crystal light. I also brought a regular thing of the CL sunshine orange and I am SO glad I did, because the hospital I was in had a lot of choices, just not the ones I liked. This gave me something to enjoy after 48 hours of nothing. I did the own pillow thing as well....the rest is common sense, but these 3 things were things shared with me that I did not think of before. You will be in my prayers! JK

First of all...congratulations Melissa You must be sooooo excited! I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery. Now as for what to pack.....I don't want to repeat the other posts....I got the most use out of my toileties, some lotion that smelled like heaven (comes in handy when you can't take a shower because of the drains ), a baseball cap (agian the shower issue), a small fan, and EAR PLUGS (these are a must when in the hospital) Again, I wish you the best of luck on your up coming surgery. Take care and keep us posted. Clarissa
