I'm 12 days post op.... Ok, I told myself that I wasn't going to get on the scale everyday...BUT....I have been. It was so exciting at first because the weight was falling off. It has now been 3 days and I haven't lost a thing. I've been floating between 235 and 238. So now my wicked mind is wondering if I'm eating too much and I've stretched my pouch out already and I'm not going to be able to do this. My first check up is Friday so I will definitely check with the nutritionist but should this be happening so soon? I expected this down the road but just not so soon. I know everyone is different too but now I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. I've been getting in my protien and drinking tons. I usually cannot eat more than 2 medicine cups at a time but last night, I was able to eat a whole banana and some shredded cheese. What is up with that? Just needed your feedback from your own experiences....thanks.

Dawn, I am still pre-op but from what I have read and heard that some people hit those levels but in one day they lose so much at once, I think it might be the bodys way of trying to keep its weight, it knows it is being starved and tries with everything it has to hold onto your extra weight. Sounds right? I have read that many times so I am hoping that is all that is happening with you.... Asking the nutritionist will help also, best of luck hun....~hug~ Debra P

I'm hoping that is what it is too but like I said, my wicked mind gets going and I start thinking that I'm doing something wrong and this isn't going to work for me. I am going to hang in there, and I will keep repeating that this will pass..... I was talking to someone else who had their surgery the same day I did and feels they haven't lost a thing yet. So we're both in that stage and its probably common and we need to stick together..... We're so different yet so much alike.

Hi, I'm a Marcher too! I go today for my first post op visit and I just posted on the other board that I am scared to death that when he weighs me that I won't have lost anything. I'll be the one in a million that this surgery doesn't help. I can't really help you with your problem as I am newer than you, but I can symathize with the your thoughts. Eileen

Thank you for posting. Its so calming to know that others have felt the same way and I'm really not alone. Thank God for this web site.

Hi fellow Marcher, Same thing happened to me..but I figured out I wasn't eating enough. I was getting about 400-500 calories in. I got my protein and water but apparently my bod thought it was starving and wouldn't let go of the fat. I punched up my calories to 900 + and have lost ever since. Was 310 when I left hospital, now 281. btw, I use Fitday software to keep track. Take care Dawn.

Patricia, thanks for responding. I've been using fit day for the last couple of days and I've been getting in about 620 cals a day. I love fit day. I'm going to take it to the nutritionist and have her review. I was wondering if that was it cuz I know when I would diet the same thing would happen. Congratulations on your weight loss. I hope you continue to be a loser. Take care.

Hi Dawn, Just read your post from yesterday. About Fitday..I think I might try to start a campaign to them. I wrote this a few days ago to their sales dept. I hope you will write to them too. Here's my letter Dear Fitday Sales I am a registered user of Fitday 1.0 and I use it everyday. I recently had weight loss surgery and find the program essential to monitoring my daily protein intake. Many other bariatric patients use your program. It would be very helpful if we could create reports of our food logs that would list specific foods we eat on a daily basis. Your program does not even allow us to copy and paste our food logs into a another document. I understand the benefits of the pie charts as to nutrient breakdowns, but an actual list of foods eaten as an overview and documentation for our nutritionists is needed. I would gladly pay for an upgrade for this feature. I would be happy to beta test the upgrade as well. Thank you for your consideration.

Hi Dawn, I am post-op 5 months, boy do I know about plateaus!!! It is totally normal. I was floating around 205-210 for like 2 weeks. I was so mad!! I kept doing what I was doing all along and the next week I dropped the 10 pds. I think your body just has to recoup after a while. As far as eating more, I do that all the time too!!! I can eat very little certain days and other days I can eat more. That is actually very good. My doc told me that you need to stretch your pouch a little, don\'t get me wrong don\'t eat to the point of being sick, but to the point of fullness. Just keep up the protien and veggies, then fruit and if still hungry (which I never am) go for the carbs! Good Luck! Karry 311/200/165(goal)

Karry, thanks for your post!!! I was also curious about how one day I would feel like I just needed more food and others I really could care less about eating. I just keep doing what I'm told to do....no way do I want to do anything to jeopardize this tool. Thanks again to everyone!! I feel much better about this.
