Need help finding Dr. for Lap RNY that takes Cigna

Hello all, I finally got an answer from my company and they are putting me in touch with our insurance broker and she will work with me to get Cigna to approve, etc. My fiance' and I met with Dr. Rajpal 2 weeks ago and really liked him but although he is on the Cigna plan, he said they won't pay (long story) and he won't do our surgery unless we find another way to pay. So, now I am looking for a good surgeon and starting all over again. We've both been to numerous seminars (both here and in TN) and have found that we both want to work with a smaller office and not be part of the mill in the big centers. We started at Cori Centers and got a lot of run around there...loved the dr., but couldn't get timely answers and phone calls weren't answered. Didn't like the program at Columbia (they wanted $600 upfront to just get tested). We both moved to NY from TN in September and one of the reasons we came was that we were denied for the surgery in TN as the company that we had our insurance with has specifically written in an exclusion for WLS. We thought that coming to NY, knowing that the insurance we now have would cover the surgery would make it easier, but it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO frustrating! To all you out there that have their surgery scheduled or have already had it, I am extremely jelous! I have made up my mind that we WILL have the surgery, even if we have to go on yet another diet for a 6 month period. I hope that tomorrow, I will have the names of several doctors to call. Thanks! hi hun i had lap band in dec i used dr alan geiss very nice man quite he is also in syosset same place as dr copperstone i think dr geiss just dose lap banding well good luck in the search

I am pre-op but love the Cori Centers so far. I do have the direct # to the Soho office if you need it. It is much easier to get ahold of them through this number and they are wonderful. If you call the 800# its from MI I think, and the girls in the office said sometimes they don't get the messages. Let me know if you would like it! Andi

Dr. Edward Yatco at Westchester Medical Center is the greatest or any of the others that work in his practice. I particularly like his bedside manner and all of his folks that checked in on me while I was in the hospital.
