Went on 2nd job interview

Hi everyone, I went for my 2nd job interview yesterday. I don't think it went too well.... The first person who interviewed me last week was a woman, really nice, and she seemed impressed with my answers and my resume. She wanted me to meet with the president of finance that day so i waited for over an hour... then he was too busy to see me, so i had scheduled to see him yesterday. When I went in, he was looking me up and down, and i can tell he was disgusted because of my weight... he was a young guy, who looked like he was mr perfect... I could tell by his vibe that he wanted to get me out of there as soon as he could... then i took a look around to see all skinny pretty women... i was so dissapointed and i know i didnt get the job.. has anyone ever experienced this? I feel like i'm not getting jobs because of my looks.... I'm so hurt

Gia, Hun please do not let people upset you and yes I have experienced this before. I walked into one office and everyone was sooooo pretty and perfect that I knew I did not get the job but when I left I said who cares, even if I did I would not have been happy working there because of this. There are so many other places that will accept overweight people that you do not need to take their ignorance. Best of luck in your search... Debra

Thanks Debra.... i just get so frustrated...... I'm a little tense right now... trying to quit smoking.... my dr said that i need to stop smoking at least 30 days before i go for the surgery... i dont even know if im approved yet,i know i can quit, i did when I found out i was preg with my daughter but went back 3 months after she was born... i dont smoke as much either, because I dont smoke in the house or the car or anywhere near the baby, so it's gonna br tough not to hav a cig when i'm stressed

Hi Gia, Well look at it this way. I went on two interviews on Monday and both was filled. One forgot to call me all about me. In fact that is what they told me and they second one hire the very skinny pretty younger blond girl before me. [that doctor seem like jerk anyway] Then I've been waiting for 2 years to get a job with MSKCC and they called me for an interview. I got the phone call yesturday only to find out the position was filled. So Honey I'm in the same boat with you. :lo: Don't worry sweetie, if you didn't get the job, it's not because of you and what you did. It's because that job is not good enough for you. Sorry you had to feel that way...and yes it does happen, and you really don't want to work with people like that, I am sure something good will come along but don't give up you take it as experience on interveiws and you are getting out there.... Christine

unfortunately my experience is that looks do play a big part. but don't get discourage because there are people out there who look for the most qualified canidate, not the one who looks the part. i actually went on one interview and the interviewer told my recruiter i looked tired..... you know the sterotypical fat people have no energy, need less to say i didn't get the job. donna open rny mar 18 2003 282/137/165
