I have heard that in some places, the Medicaid requirement is going to be a 12-24 month supervised diet.
So you are lucky if you only have to do 6 months. I have Aetna which requires 6 month supervised program. I had already been approved by BC/BS in January to have surgery today (3/17) which was cancelled as our insurance changed from BC/BS to Aetna on 3/1. Our Blue Cross did not require a current 6 month program. Their criteria was designed to see if it was "medically necessary".
Just imagine being told 3 days before your scheduled date that it is being cancelled because you don't have the 6 months required. At least, you know ahead of time, so before long you will be doing the happy
