Lizzie, I have medicaid, and that makes me very nervous you saying that about medicaid. When did this new change go into effect? I have my surgery scheduled for next wednesday the 23.

Hi Liz You are lucky if you only have to have 6 months required by Medicaid. I heard that doctors were notified that Medicaid is going to be requiring a 12-24 month supervised program before approval. I have private insurance through my hubby's employer and because ins. company was recently changed, I now have to have a 6 month supervised program. My surgery had been previously approved by BC/BS and had been scheduled for today, but had to cancel because I don't meet the criteria of the new insurance company, Aetna. It is not only Medicaid that is tightening down on the criteria, the private insurance companies are also making potential WLS patients meet a set criteria and each company is different. Good Luck with your journey to WLS. Your dream is attainable. Do not give up and do not let anyone discourage you. Keep your chin up and it will happen. We are always here to encourage and support. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Brenda
